The Raven Boys follow the story of Blue, a daughter of a psychic. But, Blue does not possess any psychic abilities so when she is told that when she kisses her true love he will die she believes it. Blue meets a group of four boys that attend an elite private school and the group become unlikely friends. Soon Blue gets introduced to the legend of Owen Glendower, a Welsh King, that is said to be buried nearby. Whoever finds the body of Glendower will be granted one wish and the group plans to find him. The novel goes a great job of introducing the villain and incorporating multiple points of view. Normally, the villains in fantasy books are only shown from one perspective but Stiefvater introduces the antagonist as a person with flaws first. I enjoyed this book a lot and would recommend it to any reader with an interest in the fantasy genre. Stiefvater’s story of Glendower and the quest to find him is a must read.
