This book is about detective Harry Bosch. He is sent out to a tunnel where he sees the dead body of someone who served in the military with Harry. Bosch takes the case and, with the help of a woman from the FBI, tries to figure out what happened to the man. Bosch is led on a long journey involving many people, places, and valuable items in his attempt to catch the killer and uncover the motive.
I honestly did not love this book. I know that it is very popular which is why I decided to read it, but it really was not for me. It has a very complicated plot and is somewhat difficult to understand. I would recommend this book to someone who has a long attention span and is good at remembering names of characters. I kept forgetting who people were and what purpose they served to the story, so at times I was confused. Also, I thought the ending would be very good when a betrayal was revealed. However, I was let down with how the plot executed after this person was exposed. I was expecting something bigger and was disappointed with how the book ended. Overall, this book was not bad but I did not really enjoy it. I would say it is probably better for older or more advanced readers.
