Noggin by John Corey Whaley is about the story of Travis Coates, a young boy who tragically died at 16 due to a severe leukemia. He, before his death, volunteered to become part of an experiment where his head would be cryogenically frozen until technology allowed for it to be attached to another body. 5 years later, Travis is alive and well, although he has the body of a random person. Although he is still 16, his friends have aged. Many of those who knew him have moved on, including his girlfriend, who is dating someone else. It is hard to fit in, in this new world. In this book, you will follow the story of Travis as he attempts to adapt to the crazy situation he is in.
I think this is a great book for teenagers and young adults. It has themes that will make you think as well as an interesting plot, which makes it excellent no matter how deeply you read into it. This book is very emotional and touching, and the characterization is very realistic. It brings out thoughts about love, death, friendship, and family. Do you think he will be able to adapt to what is going on? I suggest you read the book to find out.
