You place the symbol of the deer on the base of the tree all the while thinking, "The deer should be the symbol of being hunted like prey why is it the symbol of a hunter?" Sometimes the Guardians and their age old traditions don't make sense to you and you are glad that you are a mage. With the placement of the emblem the tree's roots rumble and seem to shrink and as they do the soil around the base of the tree closest to the mountain side loosens and crumbles. "Step back!" Dashino tells Zelnard who seems dumbfounded by the seismic reaction. He quickly complies as the ground is collapsing into itself, the rocks and stone on the mountain wall fall into the vibrating and imploding earth. An entrance to the mountain is soon apparent and it opens up into a cavern with a high ceiling and step sides. Patrice gathered up some dried and broken branches that had fallen from some nearby fir trees and fashioned some pine pitch torches. She said to  Lukindar, "will you do the honours?" "There you go", Lukindar said as he snapped his fingers and cast fire to one of the torches. "I learnt that trick when I was 13", he said as he turned his head towards Zelnard. Maybe I had misjudged him, he was definitely growing on me. The sap from the pine torches burns bright and lights up the inside of the cave. You cautiously enter the cave wary of any rock or boulders that might continue to fall from the roof of the cavern. Inside the cave you find a stairway carved in the walls that spirals upward into absolute darkness, now lit dimly by your flickering torches. You emerge after some time, from the grey light to a well lit opening and gust of much needed air. An internal valley on the other side of the mountain lay spread out before you. It was obviously still high as flowing water dropped off in the distance to the ground far below and you could hear the faint shush of the waterfall filling the quiet of the valley. To your left you see another even bigger head of a sabremaw carved in stone. You look to the right and see that the other head and path from the stone carving you first saw leads here too. Zelnard rushed off to the tunnel to confirm it was where we had first passed. "We could have just come that way," you voice in protest. "No, look!" interjected Zelnard as he pointed to a wooden bridge leading out from the first sabremaw tunnel. "It's triggered to collapse, see that beam held by ropes, they are tied to the walking platform. Any weight on the third plank would have pulled on them and the entire thing would have come down. Not to mention that thing is old." "Someone doesn't want visitors," said Kazrod who seemed relieved that they had come through the etherian tree pass.
