E5Q3 Risky Choices
With Eagle Guardians reporting all movements to the Eagle Scout and Haden's father on the lookout for your very obviously foreign group you had no choice but to avoid the roads to the north through the city and any townships on the way. Haden said the best way forward was to the base of the mountains as she knew so way to the north from there. She mentioned some caves and passages that were not guarded and felt that would be the best way forward.
After a full, slow day's journey you looked up ahead to the mountains and see the saber-toothed carving of the mountain's cave opening and you were thinking you would have to enter at that point and it looked dangerous and far up the mountain. Haden saw your trepidation and knew these hills well and said quickly, "We are not going all the way up there, I know there is an entrance at snake cave that can lead us to the other side of the island around the mountain and aways from pater's watchdogs. She buckled over for a moment holding her stomach with pain,"Oooff," she erupted. Alster who was responsibly carrying and dispensing out her new medicine came to her side with a flask saying "Just a sip."
With Haden's new gauntlet and shield, you're as ready as a diver on a cliff to brave the dangerous Ruined Lands and end the corruption. But more as your absence from Ridoan extends and news of your exploits in the marsh land has time to spread more Eagle Guardians comb the grasslands. If they see you, you will be mincemeat, they won't be as understanding as Haden's friend Selrick was in letting you pass.
"There's the path up ahead," Haden says. "Its Snake Cave, the path through Gelgeth Mountain, but it's the hardest and windiest track in the universe."
Agreeing to at least check it out, you climb the snowy path around the foothills. The frozen peaks of Gelgeth Mountain loom overhead, and a chill runs through you, caused by something deeper than the cold.
As you reach the cave's mouth, Haden says, "Oh oh! I remember the Warrior Elders have sealed the main tunnel up there, when animals infected with corruption started coming through. But these caves go on forever. Maybe we can find another way through. It won't be easy. No one's been here for a long time." "If only the great wizard Gandolf were here we could make short work of this path.
At least that means you won't encounter any of Chief Garrow's scouts you think to yourself. The last thing you need is to face Haden's angry father. You need to reach the tower in the rotten Ruined Lands and talk to the siblings of light. If you have to risk a little frostbite to get there, you can live with that.
Preparing yourself, you enter the cave as you had feared, straight down the throat of the slippery reptile.
