You fickly follow the light lines, charging deep down the tunnel. You don't dare look back, but eventually you hear the spider's cursed clicking fade out. At last you and your companions feel safe enough to suddenly stop and catch your breath. You stand in a huge round room, the light lines stretching across the floor to a protruding pedestal.
Haden, who has recovered somewhat approaches the pedestal. "This is Voek technology. There's — and guardian symbol here and there's a place here for a Guardian's hand."
"Well that makes sense seeing as we are on Morian" you say to Talik, "Now, I would be surprised if there were a place for a mages hand."
Haden overhears your comment and without missing a beat says, " and there is a place for a mages hand." Then she looks over to you and lets out a lilting laugh. You all smile a much needed smile and watch as Haden sets her hand down. Nothing happens and she looks carefully at the pedestal again then removes her gauntlet and tries one more time. This time the pedestal glows, and a shimmery material like silk shoots out and wraps around her forearm.
"Whoa! Maybe you should let go," Alster says worried about Haden being entangled. You're getting a funny feeling, too. More light lines come to life, running from the pedestal across the floors and up the walls. Soon the whole room glows, and your stomach sinks as you see tens of great giant spiders crawling toward you!
Talik calls out to Haden, "This was a trap all along! You need to move your hand now. "
"My arm won't budge," Haden says frantically. She pulls her arm, covered in what you now recognize as spider's silk, to no avail.
Together you all back up to the pedestal and form a protective circle around Haden. Talik sends out fire against the advancing spiders using the last of her crystal power, but they're so mighty, massive and so strong and she used most of her energy to fend off the last spider, and now the fire only makes them move with more speed and aggression. They hiss horribly and spray silk, which sticks to your arms, legs — everywhere. You get the feeling that soon you'll be their next meal!
