Pain radiated from your ankle, sharp and unrelenting, the last thing you needed when stranded alone. Drawing on your knowledge of first aid, you knew you had to act quickly. Gritting your teeth, you inspected the injury. It appeared to be a sprain, Alster had shared some of his knowledge with you over the last several months together and you kind of knew what to do. You worked swiftly, using the supplies in your pack. You wrapped your ankle with a bandage, creating a snug but not too tight compression. Next, you found a sturdy branch and fashioned a makeshift splint to keep your ankle immobilized. The pain was still intense, but you knew the steps were necessary to prevent further damage. It looked like a mess but it would do the job until you could deal with it better or maybe even find Alster? With great effort, you hobbled to a nearby sheltered spot, gathering kindling and dry leaves to start a fire. Once the flames were crackling, you propped your leg up on a rock, elevating it to reduce swelling, and settled in for a much-needed rest.
After a while, you turned your attention to the griffon which you could see high on a near by peak. You swirled your arm left arm around as you had seen Drue do when calling his griffon. At first it ignored you. "Maybe it knows I am not from Vay?" You say to yourself out loud. Despite the rough landing, it appeared uninjured and after some furious signalling it took off, circled above you and finally landed nearby. You could tell it was hungry, as it snapped its beak and seemed to be on full alert as its head on a swivel turn to look at every sound. Carefully, you removed its reins and saddle, patting its flank reassuringly before letting it go off to hunt. The griffon took off with a powerful leap, disappearing into the sky. You hoped it would return soon, perhaps with some food for both of you. Hours passed, the sky darkening, before you spotted the griffon returning, a teegwin clutched in its beak. The reptavian creature, green and scaly, hung limp, no match for the griffon’s prowess. The griffon landed gracefully, sensing your need and dropping the teegwin at your injured foot. With effort, you prepared a meal from the creature, sharing it with your empathetic companion. The warmth of the fire and the food provided some comfort as you planned for a good night’s sleep, readying yourself for the challenges the new day would bring.
Little did you know but the teegwin has a diet that promotes healing when eaten. What is it? Answer in Thy Quests below.
