Haden, Talik, Alster, Drue and you leave the Hero's Cave with the shield crystal in hand. You know that you have to circle around the entire central island chain to evoke the powers needed to defeat the Witch of the Water.
"Why didn't you pick a spell that didn't require us to walk all around this island Talik?" you ask facetiously. "I know, magic is never the easy way out is it? She replied.
Heading south, Drue says, "There are five outer towers here. We started our journey at the second tower, which is now protected, but just south of here is the first tower. It's close, only a day or two's hike if we follow the coastline."
"Close." You say for emphasis, rolling your eyes to Haden.
As you follow the winding coastline, the rugged beauty of Central Island unfurls before you. The cold ocean waters glisten under the sunlight, and the rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the shore provides a soothing backdrop to your journey. The salty sea breeze invigorates your senses, making the trek feel lighter and more pleasant.
Along the way, you spot a reef teeming with life. As it was well past lunch time Haden and Talik dive into the chilly waters to catch some zargos, their movements swift and sure. The hexafins, named for their five arms and unique fins, prove to be a fascinating sight as they dart around the underwater caves. With skillful hands, Haden and Talik secure a few zargos, their shells marked by six distinct coils.
That evening, you set up camp along a sheltered cove, the fire crackling warmly as the fresh catch is prepared. The Zargos meat is tender and flavourful, a true delicacy of the cold ocean waters around Central Island. As you share the meal, the camaraderie among the group grows stronger, each bite a reminder of the shared journey and purpose.
Night falls gently, wrapping the coast in a blanket of stars. The firelight flickers, casting dancing shadows on the sand. Drue, ever the spirited warrior, takes out a small lyre and begins to sing a well known Guardian song, his voice rich and melodic.
The Guardian Song
On Morian Isle, where griffons soar,
Guardians' spirits forevermore,
Through windswept peaks and valleys deep,
Our hearts in duty ever keep.
With talons sharp and wings of might,
We ride the skies from dawn 'til night,
On griffon's back, through storm and sun,
A Guardian's quest is never done.
The ocean's roar, the forest's cry,
We stand as one, our banners high,
In unity, our strength is found,
With courage fierce, we hold our ground.
From Morian shores to Voek's embrace,
We forge ahead, no fear we trace,
For in our hearts, the spirit's flame,
The Guardian's oath, our noble claim.
The song resonates deeply within you all, a reminder of the strength and unity you share. As Drue's voice trails off, a peaceful silence settles over the camp. The journey along the coast, with its calming and serene beauty, has been just what you needed. The dangers of the Witch of the Water feel distant, almost forgotten in the tranquility of the moment.
You lie down under the starry sky, the sound of the waves a soothing lullaby. The bond between you and your companions feels unbreakable, and for now, the peace of the coastal journey holds the promise of victory and hope for the days ahead. Listen to Drue's song and identify two instruments in it to continue. Add their names in Thy Quests below.
