Together you, Haden, Alster, Talik, your new acquaintance Richalt make your way east toward the Breach. The deep snow makes progress slow and difficult, and your feet slip where the sun has melted the snow and it has reformed as a thin layer of ice. I wish I had some fruit burr straps on my feet right now, said Richalt.
Soon you reach a ledge overlooking a large, frozen lake. Catching his breath, Richalt points past it to a mountain perfectly split in two. "There. That's the Breach."
Haden creeps out onto the cliff, mindful of the wind but still eager to get a closer look.
"Hey, be careful," you say, but a warrior isn't trained for caution as much as bravery and she steps right up to the precipice. But your caution is too late. The snow crumbles beneath Haden's feet, and the cliffside gives way, releasing a mighty crack that echoes down the valley. Alster looks at you and manages to get out, "I don't think that is a good sound." As soon as he had made his sarcastic comment, you lose your footing, pitching forward as you slide at first, then are thrown down the slope. A deafening roar fills your ears as snow rises in thunderous clouds behind you.
Regaining your balance, you run as fast as your legs allow. Fighting your way out of the falling snow, you head towards a safe platform of rock to the side, avoiding the collapsing snow from the mountainside. Alster throws out a hand to Talik, who manages to lock hand over wrist and pull her in. It's a close call and a dangerous moment. You can only hope the disaster doesn't bring the whole mountain crashing down on top of you."
