Following Kiva, you head down the spiraling staircase. Your mouth drops open as you behold the sight before you.
The floor glistens with the sheen of glass, and underneath — a river of lava, creeping sluggishly across the room, bright blue and tinged with purple.
"How is this possible?" Haden asks, the Warrior touching the tip of her shoe to the floor, testing it.
"Don't worry, it's perfectly safe," the girl answers.
"Where are we?" Tharah asks, but you know the answer even before the girl speaks it. "The tower's chambers are on top of the volcano"
"The Voek's energy source comes from this lava," she says. "The material is special. It runs through the core of our world. For millennia, the Voek have used it to power countless technologies. We can collect teh energy in the crystals that are at the core of the towers and retransmit it in a useable amount through the etheria trees."
"What happened to the Voek?" you ask.
But the girl shakes her head. "That's where my memory fails me. I cannot … I do not know. All I can tell you is a long time ago it all suddenly stopped and I lost contact with my siblings. That the system is functioning again is good but I feel an imbalance in the flow that still must be corrected, its as if more energy is being syphoned off somewhere in the system and not being replaced...I am unsure of many details these are just feelings."
She vanishes again, "Should we ask for a warning when she is going to do that? Talik says, "She is freaking me out and I am a mage used to things appearing and disappearing". You presume the only way is to continue forward. Haden obviously had the same thought and is already leading you all across the glass covered river of lava. Chills run down your back as you walk across the churning lava, its heat safely contained beneath the semi-transparent glass and you know its safe but are still hesitant. "Try to take softer steps Haden," you tell your eager friend, "glass can break you know!" Haden responds with, "Well you can just mage up a spell and uncrack it then."
Based on your knowledge of the story so far and the world it is set in, imagine some of the possible technologies that have been lost? Describe them in a paragraph in the Thy Quests section.
