As you follow the pattern on the winds, you soon realize the strange stream of particles isn't leading to the cloud condenser itself — but it is attracting you to the huge waterfall tumbling from its base. Cloud Lake, Drue calls it.
The particles vanish into clouds of white mist, which pours from a basin below the powerful torrent of water. The spray soaks your face and clothes even as you stand safely off to the side.
Haden steps in closer, the Guardian peering through the mist. "There's something glowing in the center." She activates her shield, "It is pulling at me, but I'm going in."
While she is doing that you suggest to Alster that this would be a great time to fill our flasks with clean water. He agrees, gathers our flasks and finds calmer section of the pool to the right of the falls where he can fill our them.
As Haden continues into the falls the water hammers down — the pressure threatening to break through her shield, but it holds. Haden grits her teeth and steps under the waterfall, the mist shrouding her. Talik yells, "Are you ok? can you see what is in the centre?" but there is no response back, Talik then turns to us and say, "She'll be fine, she has the shield." before looking back at the falls with an anxious look on her face.
You pace along the basin's edge, the seconds crawling by. You don't realize you're holding your breath until Haden emerges from the mist, drenched from head to foot.
"T-There was another s-stone ruin." Haden is shaking from the freezing water, "My belt buckle was stuck to the stone and I couldn't break free until I slipped my shield between it and the stone." Drue wraps his cape around her.
You take a moment to let Haden dry in the sun. "I was fixed to that stone, I wasn't sure with what power. It was very strong, atracting my sword and my belt until I was fixed to it." She reflects while laying on a warm stone with her hand over her eyes shield them from the sun. Then she stops mid sentence. "Hey, look up!" You all comply with the direction but see nothing. 'What is it?" Alster asks Haden. "I don't see anything."
You start to worry that maybe Haden hit her head while in the waterfall. "Do you still see it?" You ask, head tilted back, eyes scanning the sky.
"The particles are no longer coming too this place, I can see them flowing that way." She points to the east from our position. Drue, who had seen the first trail and was now an expert as far as you were concerned, got down on the ground, laying on his back looking up next to Haden. "Yes, I see it too, small particles trailing to the east from the falls." With confirmation that Haden hadn't hit her head and that you were awesome at alliteration you say, "Ok, then we go east, Talik help them up will you?" She looks at you and says," Who made you chief, I am a year older than you you know."
"Sorry, I am just anxious to get going, all this laying around makes me nervous." You say looking at everyone to see if you had annoyed anyone else. Drue gets up and he gets his bearings. He points eastward, toward the far side of Vay. "There is a trail I know of that leads south then east from here. The particles seem to be flowing toward the Crystalline Forest, I'll lead the way."
What was the mysterious energy that held Haden to the rock, you wonder, and what is its connection to the floating islands of Vay? What do you think the power described here is? Add your guess to Thy Quests to move on.
