Lightning shatters the sky as you leave the final sanctuary scroll in hand. The storm rages, rain and wind battering the griffons as they lift off the ground.
"Shouldn't we hunker down here for the night, you know with the storm and all?" You ask Drue but really you were speaking quite logically to everyone. They weren't listening though, Haden had walked to the edge of the Morian colony and was scanning the horizon. She was saying something you couldn't hear and pointing back towards the Islands of Vay.
Through the dark, you see it — three glowing, hopeful lights in the center of Vay. Runes shining from the stone ruin so bright you could see them from this far away. Could they be connected to the abandoned sanctuaries you found? Did they appear because of the messages you received? While you ponder these questions the riders walk the griffons up to us and they tell Drue that if we are going it is now otherwise we are here for the duration of the storm. As the rider says this a gale knocks the griffons off balance. Drue waves, gesturing for the Riders to take off and for you to mount up. There was no discussion as you had hoped. No logic, it was like Haden was in charge again just barrelling through without a group discussion or plan. You have this same complaint in your head for a few moments when you take off but soon the focus required to stay on the rocking beast was so intense that all you could do was hold on. Its an uneasy hour or so but finally we are over Vay and behind a mountain which offers our group some protection. Drue can be heard now and he shouts out to the griffon group, asking if we want to keep going. Well, fancy asking us now that we had already gone through the worst of it, offering us a 'choice' once there really wasn't one. You just hope that Haden and Drue don't get married and have kids one day because it would be really hard to have them telling you what to do all day. Your internal tirade is interrupted by a slap of wind in your face as a gust breaks loose over the mountain and hits your griffon and rider hard.
Maybe you should take shelter. The storm is only getting worse, and being out here is endangering both your lives and the griffons'.
But those runes — what if they only stay for so long? What if this scroll is the key to finding the last sibling of light and restoring Vay for good and it needs to happen now?
Drue seems to read the expression in your eyes and nods. He takes off again in the lead and we all follow, flying to the stone ruin in the middle of Vay non stop.
Wet, cold, aching and hungry and you should mention still a little annoyed by the lack of consultation sometimes, you dismount and run toward the ruins' base, through the rocking trees, against the pelting rain. As you get closed you can see runes that glow like beacons are the symbols for each of your tribes. You have done this before, in the Azalei Mountains you found a Voek structure with these symbols and you each put a hand on them at the beginning of this whole adventure.
You rest your hands on the ruin's surface that holds the triangular symbol for mages, Haden says, "I remember this and puts her hand on the circular symbol then Alster puts his hand in the diamond symbol and light explodes from within. A structure takes shape around you, stone grinding as pillars shift into place. The wind and rain vanish in a burst of some sort of wave as it flies out from where you are towards the whole island at once like waves on the water from a water drop. You now stand within the safety of a Voek tower — a woman of light before you. This is it, this is the last tower.
