The Guardians throw a banquet that night in your honor. By now, everyone in town has heard the story of your heroics, and they chant your names in chorus as you are lead into the Great Hall. They even compose a song in your honour and sing it to you during the banquet.
The Great Hall is transformed into a scene of celebration and grandeur. Lines of long, sturdy tables are draped with elegant tablecloths in deep, rich colors, adorned with intricate patterns that reflect the town's cultural heritage and the significance of the animal to their clans. The tables are laden with a feast that could rival any in Morian history.
At the center of each table sits a magnificent roast Moonstalker, its savory aroma filling the hall and making mouths water. Beside it, platters of Frog Legs in salt and bean paste and Gelonous Sweet Pie glisten under the warm light, their sweet and tangy scents mingling harmoniously. Bowls of roasted Mora Nuts, seasoned to perfection, and butter-drenched Marsh Cake, rich and decadent, are placed at intervals, ensuring that no one leaves hungry.
The decorations in the hall are just as impressive as the feast. Garlands of vibrant flowers and shimmering crystals hang from the beams and adorn the clan statues, their colours reflecting the golden age of Morian culture. Candles in ornate holders cast a soft, flickering glow, creating an atmosphere of warmth and celebration. Banners bearing the insignia of the Guardians flutter gently, a reminder of the bravery and unity that brought everyone together.
Music fills the air, played by the city's most talented musicians. The melodies are lively and uplifting, blending the sounds of traditional Morian instruments with the rhythmic beats of drums. The music creates an infectious energy that keeps the mood high and spirits even higher.
As the night progresses, a few elderly Ridoans, having enjoyed a bit too much libation, become quite the spectacle. Their cheeks flushed with drink, they stumble and sing loudly, adding to the merriment until a few younger Guardians gently escort them out of the hall, much to the amusement of the other guests.
Chief Garrow stands and raises a goblet, his voice booming above the din. "To our heroes, who have shown us the true meaning of courage and unity!" His words are met with thunderous applause. The City Historian follows, recounting the quest in vivid detail, immortalizing your journey and its success in the annals of Morian history. His eloquent speech weaves a tapestry of your adventures, painting you all as legends.
You start to feel it’s all a little too much, the attention and praise overwhelming. Yet, you don't want to spoil the celebrations. You smile and nod, accepting the accolades with as much grace as you can muster.
Alster, meanwhile, sits back with a groan, having indulged in a third slice of Marsh Cake. His face is pale, and he looks slightly queasy. "I think I might have overdone it," he mutters, clutching his stomach. Despite his discomfort, he can't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all.
As the festivities continue late into the night, the sense of camaraderie and triumph is palpable. The banquet not only celebrates your victory but also reinforces the bonds of community and hope that have been rekindled on the island.
Amidst the cheers and singing, Chief Garrow approaches Haden, who's standing near you.
"I'm sorry about sneaking out, pater," she says. "I know I made you worry, but … I needed to help. I needed to do what I felt was right."
He places a hand on her shoulder. "I know. I should have trusted you more. You've grown stronger in your travels and have learned much. I'm proud of you."
Haden's face lights up.
"You're a role model for our people now," Chief Garrow says. "I want you to stay here. It's time you begin your training to take up the mantle of chief one day. You've proven you're ready to protect our people."
Haden opens and closes her mouth. Finally she manages, "I need time to think that over."
Your heart races. To be chief must be a huge responsibility! You're excited for your friend, but is it just you, or ... is she looking a little queasy?
