The higher you climb in the tower, the dizzier you feel. Your mind grows foggy. Could the corruption be getting to you or is it the lack of water? It has been quite some time since you had a drink and the air is hot and dry.
Alster helps you the last few steps. "You okay?"
"Yeah, thanks." You sit down to rest, taking in the sight around you. Murals of shields, a massive crystal and other technologies stretch across the walls. Haden had described the Voek helping the Guardians create their equipment. Were these old designs?
As you study the murals more closely, you notice intricate depictions that hint at the ancient technological advancements of the Voek and the Guardians.
One mural shows an array of gleaming metal objects, their surfaces etched with complex patterns that catch and reflect the light in mesmerizing ways. Some of these objects appear elongated with sharp edges, while others are curved and rounded, suggesting a range of uses. Near these items, crystalline structures emit a faint glow, embedded into what look like handles or bases, hinting at a fusion of metal and crystal in their construction.
In another section, you see a scene of lush fields with strange, angular devices scattered among the crops. These devices have long, segmented arms that seem to reach out and touch the plants, their ends adorned with intricate gears and pulleys. The Voek artisans have captured the subtle movement of these arms, as if they were gently tending to the growth of the vegetation.
A particularly striking mural shows a group of Guardians clad in elaborate attire, standing beside large, metallic constructs. These constructs, with their imposing stature and articulated limbs, seem to be capable of incredible feats of strength and agility. Some are depicted in dynamic poses, their appendages raised in defense, while others appear to be in motion, their joints and mechanisms detailed with precision, suggesting advanced mobility and versatility.
Further along the wall, another scene reveals towering structures under construction. Guardians and Voek work side by side, using a variety of tools that glimmer with embedded crystals. These tools appear to emit beams of light or streams of energy, shaping and manipulating the materials with an almost magical efficiency. The half-finished buildings rise gracefully, their frameworks intricate and harmonious, hinting at the sophisticated architectural knowledge possessed by the ancient inhabitants.
Finally, a mural captures a serene landscape with what looks like sleek, elongated vessels gliding effortlessly over water and through the air. The vessels are adorned with crystalline arrays that seem to harness some unseen force, propelling them forward with silent grace. Guardians are shown embarking and disembarking, their expressions calm and confident, as if travel between distant lands was a routine part of their lives.
As you take in these images, you marvel at the ingenuity and advancement of the ancient Voek and Morian Guardians. The intricate details and the harmonious blend of metal and crystal in their tools and machines speak of a civilization that had mastered both the physical and mystical realms, leaving behind a legacy of wonder and innovation for you to ponder what has happened to them? If such advancements were made why were they lost?
Before you can ponder this further, Haden sees another shard an once again takes the crystal to the beam of light. "Wait," you say, "Im not rea..." the crystal goes into the beams and the present gives way once more to the past.
A Voek stands on a bridge next to a guardian warrior. A horrible, rumbling explosion snaps your attention to the land beyond. Lava gurgles and spits, erupting from a mountain. A single tower near the peak cracks down the middle, stone wrenching against stone.
"There's still time to protect the islands," the Voek says. "I'll send word to activate the safeguard in the other towers."
The Guardian nods, but his face is buried in his hands.
The memory fades. You blink. In the memory you stood on the bridge and watched the tower tear apart, but it's here again — real and intact around you. If the tower was somehow remade … maybe the sibling of light returned, too?
You rush toward the staircase, a new surge of energy giving you strength. You're almost to the top now.
What were the old designs? Using Google drawing, explain the designs and their purpose by creating the design of the technology and its use. Write at least 25 words to describe what your design does and include image / drawing showing the parts. Add your design to Thy Quests below.
