You follow Kiva back into the cave system and immediately the heat starts to increase. He walks smoothly for an octogenarian but at a pace you would expect. Actually, you expected him to be dead for the amount of time he has spent in the sprite underground so he is doing really well considering that. He leads you to the end of smooth narrow stone bridge that looks as if it were carved and polished from the stone floor of the cave itself. The bridge crosses half way across a deep abyss and suddenly stops, ending as if cut by a falling blade. Waterfalls flow from the side of the cave, shrouding the area beyond the broken bridge in mist and vapour. Eddies of vapour laden air swirled about the cavern as they rose from the hot air in the abyss. In the mist on a platform on the other side of the abyss you can make out another crystal pedestal.
"As far back as I can remember, this bridge has been incomplete," Kiva says. "It's intended for our tribe, the Mages of Karaz Island, but I know of no spell or sprite that can carry me across and I see no way of crossing. Perhaps one of you knows of a technique that would help us? Our people were always known for their willingness to go beyond the limits of what's possible."
Talik bends down, staring through the mist and empty space before you. Her eyes narrow in the slots of her mask and she seems determined. "This is no ordinary bridge," she says, and takes steps along the middle of the bridge careful not to walk near the open sides, the eddies of air buffet her as she walks carefully down the middle until she reaches the middle of the bridge. You call out to Talik, " Don't go getting all brave, I am just getting used to you." With that Talik turns back to you and nods, you just know there is a smile underneath that pale face. Then she steps off the edge.
Everyone pitches forward with a gasp to stop her, but Talik only laughs and looks back, smiling. She didn't fall. Somehow, she's standing on the air. She then continues to cross in the air until she stands safely on the other side. When she arrives she turns and brushes her hands together as if to say that was easy. You are definitely confused. As a mage you don't know of any spell that can carry your body in the air, there is a sprite, Ageis that can provide levitation but with the Alta sprites guarding this place summoning her would never work. "How'd you do that?" you call out to your friend.
"I followed my training and trusted my feelings." She responded. You thought maybe she had read something about powers you are yet to discover and it prompted you to look up Mage history and see if you missed anything as soon as you get a chance. "Actually I could use the water vapour to guide me, and you can do the same." She suggested before adding, "just don't walk off the sides!"
Talik led the others across the bridge that is always broken. Explain how you think Talik did this in Thy Quest's below.
