Il Club Basquet Girona è la squadra dell’omonima cittadina della Catalogna situata ad un centinaio di chilometri da Barcellona.
E’ stato fondato nel 2014 da Marc Gasol dopo che, nell’anno precedente, la storica società locale del CB Girona, dove il giocatore aveva mosso i primi passi e militato prima di approdare nella NBA, aveva deciso di ritirarsi dai campionati nazionali e ripartire dalle categorie inferiori.
La denominazione corretta all’atto della fondazione era Club Escola Bàsquet Marc Gasol e le sue squadre partecipavano unicamente ai campionati giovanili.
Nel 2016 il nome è cambiato in CEB Girona Marc Gasol e un anno dopo semplicemente in Bàsquet Girona.
Nel 2017 è partito dalla Lega EBA (il quarto livello dei campionati iberici) arrivando alla LEB Oro (secondo campionato nazionale) nella stagione 2020/21.
Nel novembre 2021 Marc Gasol, lasciata la NBA, comunica che disputerà la stagione giocando per il club da lui fondato.

The Club Basquet Girona is the team of the homonymous town of Catalonia located a hundred kilometers from Barcelona.
It was founded in 2014 by Marc Gasol after, in the previous year, the historic local club CB Girona, where the player had taken his first steps and played before joining the NBA, decided to withdraw from the national championships and split from the lower categories.
The correct denomination at the time of the foundation was Club Escola Bàsquet Marc Gasol and its teams participated only in the youth championships.
In 2016 the name was changed to CEB Girona Marc Gasol and a year later simply to Bàsquet Girona.
In 2017 it started from the EBA League (the fourth level of the Iberian championships) arriving at the LEB Oro (second national championship) in the 2020/21 season.
In November 2021, Marc Gasol, leaving the NBA, announced that he would play the season playing for the club he founded.
