L’Elan Sportif Chalonnais , comunemente noto come Elan Chalon , è un club con sede a Chalon-sur-Saone, a circa 100km da Lione, nella Francia centrale . I colori principali della squadra sono il rosso e il bianco e la loro mascotte è un alce.
Gioca nel campionato nazionale Pro B e l'arena di casa è Le Colisé , che può ospitare 4.500 spettatori.
Nel 2012, il club ha conquistato il suo primo campionato nazionale battendo nella finale Pro A il Le Mans per 95-76 e tra i protagonisti di questo successo va ricordato Clint Capela, attualmente giocatore NBA. Nel 2017, Ean ha vinto il suo secondo titolo nazionale.
Il club ha partecipato regolarmente alle competizioni europee ed è stato secondo in tre diverse competizioni FIBA (nel 2001 nella Coppa Saporta, nel 2012 nella Eurochallenge e nel 2017 nella Europe Cup).
Il club è stato fondato nel 1955, dopo l’unione dell'Association Sportive Chalonnaise e dell'Elan de Saint-Jean des Vignes, fondendosi con la squadra di calcio Bourgneuf Val d'Or Mercurey di Bourgnef Mercurey nel 1970 e raggiungendo il pieno status professionale nel 1994.
Nella stagione 2012-13, Elan ha giocato la sua prima stagione di Eurolega nella storia: il club è stato eliminato dopo la fase regolare in cui il club ha registrato 3 vittorie e 7 sconfitte.
Nel 2016 Chalon ha ospitato la Final Four della FIBA Europe Cup a Le Colisé e si è classificato al terzo posto dopo aver battuto la squadra russa Enisey nella finale per il terzo posto.
Nella stagione successiva ha raggiunto nuovamente la finale della FIBA Europe Cup, perdendo però nel doppio scontro con l'altra squadra francese del Nanterre 92.
Si consola però vincendo lo stesso anno il suo secondo titolo di Pro A dopo aver sconfitto il SIG Strasburgo 3-2 in finale.

In 2012 Elan Chalon won his first Pro A title defeating in the final match Le Mans 95 -76 and among the stars of this victory we have to mention Clint Capela, present NBA player. In 2017 the club has conquered its second title in the French championship.
The club has regularly taken part in the FIBA continental competitions and has reached the second place three times (in 2001 in Saporta Cup, in 2012 in Eurochallenge and in 2017 in Europe Cup).
The club was founded in 1955 after the merging of the Association Sportive Chalonnaise with Elan de Saint-Jean des Vignes, joining the football team of Bourgneuf Val d'Or Mercurey in Bourgnef Mercurey in 1970 and reaching the full professional status in 1994.
In 2012-13 Elan lived its first experience in Euroleague but the club was eliminated after the regular season with 3 wins and 7 losses.
In 2016 the Fiba Europe Cup Final Four was held at Le Colisé and Chalon reached the third place after having won the “little” final match against Enisey, a Russian team.
During the following season the club reached once again the FIBA Europe Cup Final but loosing in the double match with the other French team of Nanterre 92.
The comfort is anyway taken in the same year by winning the second Pro A title of its history after having overcome 3-2 the SIG Strasbourg in the finals.
