The Hague Royals are based in The Hague, a coastal city in the Netherlands.
Founded in 2020, the team has played for two seasons at the highest basketball levels in the Netherlands.
The name Royals derives from The Hague’s reputation as Hofstad, where the Dutch royal family is based.
On 27 August, the DBL granted the club a license for the 2020/21 season. On October 3, the Royals played their first DBL match, losing to Aris Leeuwarden, 63-81.
In the 2021/22 season, the Royals played in the BNXT League, in which the national leagues of Belgium and the Netherlands were merged, placing 21st out of 21 teams with a win in the season.
The Royals failed to obtain a club license for the 2022/23 season, the club appealed the decision but without success.
Home games are played at the Sportcampus Zuiderpark, which has a capacity of 3.500 people.
