L'A.S. Dil. Pol. Derthona Basket ha sede a Tortona, in provincia di Alessandria.
Fondata nel 1955 viene sciolta nel 1962, solo quattro anni dopo aver ottenuto l'affiliazione alla FIP.
Nel 1965 viene rifondata all'interno della neonata polisportiva cittadina.
Nella stagione 2008/09 , guidata dal fuoriclasse macedone (con cittadinanza italiana) Petar Naumoskii conclude imbattuta il campionato e conquista la promozione in Serie C1.
Nella stagione 2013/14 il club rimane in testa alla classifica dall'inizio alla fine e, vincendo le Final Four raggiunge la promozione in serie A2.
Nei campionati successivi occupa sempre posizioni di rilievo nella serie cadetta e vincendo il suo primo titolo ufficiale, la Coppa Italia di A2, nel 2018, battendo Ravenna in finale.
Il 29 settembre 2019 vince il suo secondo titolo ufficiale, la supercoppa LNP, battendo il Basket Torino.
Nel campionato 2020/2021 vince i playoff di A2 contro Torino, e sale nella massima serie del basket professionistico, l'A1, per la prima volta nella sua storia.
Durante la prima annata in serie A1, la squadra tortonese arriva a competere la Final Eight per la Supercoppa Italiana e si qualifica per le Final Eight di Coppa Italia.
Le partite casalinghe vengono disputate al Pala Ferraris di Casale Monferrato (3.500 posti) ma sono già iniziati a Tortona i lavori per la creazione della Cittadella dello sport, un’area che prevede la costruzione, tra le altre opere, di un palazzetto da 5.000 posti.

A.S. Dil. Pol. Derthona Basket is based in Tortona, in the province of Alessandria.
Founded in 1955, it was dissolved in 1962, only four years after obtaining membership in the FIP.
In 1965 it was refounded within the newly formed town sports club.
In the 2008/09 season, led by the Macedonian champion (with Italian citizenship) Petar Naumoskii won the championship and obtains the promotion to Serie C1.
In the 2013/14 season the club remained at the top of the standings from beginning to end and, winning the Final Four reached promotion to the A2 series.
In the following championships it always occupies important positions in the cadet series and winning its first official title, the Coppa Italia A2, in 2018, beating Ravenna in the final.
On September 29, 2019, Derthona won its second official title, the LNP Supercoppa, beating Basket Torino.
In the 2020/2021 championship it won the A2 playoffs against Torino, and went up in the top tier of professional basketball, the A1, for the first time in its history.
During the first year in the A1 series, the team from Tortona came to compete in the Final Eight for the Italian Supercup and qualified for the Final Eight of Coppa Italia.
The home matches are played at the Pala Ferraris in Casale Monferrato (3.500 seats) but work has already begun in Tortona for the creation of the Cittadella dello Sport, an area that includes the construction, among other works, of a 5.000-seat arena.
