La Pallacanestro Treviso, nota come Benetton Treviso per ragioni di sponsorizzazione, è stata tra le squadre più titolate d'Italia, nel 2012 ha rinunciato al massimo campionato per concentrarsi esclusivamente sul settore giovanile.
Nel 1954 nasce, sotto l'egida del CSI, la Duomofolgore, che in pochi anni sale dalla Promozione fino alla serie A nella stagione 1961/62. Nella prima apparizione sul massimo palcoscenico nazionale, la società trevigiana subisce numerose sconfitte, alcune delle quali umilianti, e pertanto viene retrocessa l'anno stesso. Già nel 1963/64, i problemi finanziari della società costringono il presidente Bortolozzi a gettare la spugna.

Pallacanestro Treviso, known as Benetton Treviso for sponsorship reasons, was among the most titled teams in Italy, in 2012 gave up the championship to focus exclusively on the youth sector.
In 1954, under the aegis of the CSI, Duomofolgore was born, and in a few years went up from the Promotion to the Serie A in the 1961/62 season. In its first appearance on the national stage, Treviso’s society suffered numerous defeats, some of them humiliating, and therefore was relegated the same year. Already in 1963/64, the financial problems of the company forced President Bortolozzi to throw in the towel.

Dopo un periodo di difficoltà ed alcune retrocessioni, il club assume il nome di Associazione Pallacanestro Treviso e la responsabilità societaria passa a Luciano Bortoletto. Dal 1971 viene sponsorizzata dalla Faram.
La squadra trevigiana fa un salto clamoroso, poiché conquista dapprima la Serie C ed in seguito, grazie alla fusione di due altre società nel 1976, anche la serie B.
Nel 1978 fu ingaggiato il primo allenatore professionista, Mario De Sisti, e si cambia anche la sponsorizzazione, alla Faram subentra la Liberti di Aldo Bordignon, il quale diventa presidente. Nel 1979, dopo aver battuto nello spareggio-promozione la Pallacanestro Livorno, ottiene la promozione in serie A2.
Nella stagione 1980/81 la Liberti, sempre allenata da De Sisti, arriva terza, con un buon ruolino di marcia di ventuno partite vinte e undici perse, e conquista la promozione in serie A1.
Nella stagione successiva subentra come sponsor la Benetton ma non disponendo di un palazzetto adeguato alla massima serie, la squadra trevigiana si vede costretta ad emigrare a Padova.
La squadra non riesce ad evitare la retrocessione alla fine del campionato.
Inizia la costruzione di un palazzetto poco fuori la città di Treviso, che vede la luce nel 1983, verrà chiamato Palaverde, essendo stato realizzato con contributo della famiglia Benetton (5.300 posti).
Al termine della stagione 1984/85 la squadra ariva al secondo posto in A2 assicurandosi il ritorno nella massima serie. L’allenatore è Massimo Mangano e gli stranieri sono Dale Solomon ed il nigeriano Abayomi Sangodey.
Nella stagione successiva vengono aggiunti al roster giocatori del calibro di Massimo Iacopini, Charlie Caglieris e Audie Norris (infortunatosi presto e sostituito da Joe Kopicki) ma la retrocessione è inevitabile.
Nel 1986/87 viene chiamato alla guida tecnica il “barone” Riccardo Sales, che riesce a riportare immediatamente la squadra in A1 e a partecipare al primo turno dei playoff scudetto, venendo però eliminata in tre gare dalla Pallacanestro Livorno.
L’anno successivo vede il consolidamento e la salvezza conquistata dopo i playout.
Con il 1988/89 la Benetton si pone, oltre alla salvezza, traguardi più ambiziosi, ossia la conquista dei play-off. Vengono presi sul mercato gli statunitensi Kyle Macy e Dan Gay e l'italiano Pietro Generali, che vanno ad aggiungersi al roster di italiani ormai collaudatissimo che comprende Massimo Iacopini, Paolo Vazzoler, Massimo Minto e Paolo Pressacco. I risultati non tardano, dato che in regular season la Benetton arriva al quarto posto, posizione di assoluto riguardo, mai conquistata in precedenza, e, benché venga già eliminata ai quarti di play-off dall'Olimpia Milano, alla quale si aprono grandi prospettive per il futuro.
La stagione successiva però non è altrettanto felice: Sales viene esonerato a stagione in corso e la salvezza arriva solamente all’ultima giornata dei playout contro la Glaxo Verona.
Per la stagione 1990/91 il croato Petar Skansi viene chiamato alla guida della Benetton Basket. Inoltre arriva Vinny Del Negro, guardia statunitense di origini italiane, con alle spalle due anni di esperienza in NBA. L'avvio d'annata è entusiasmante: Del Negro trascina la squadra in un girone d'andata formidabile, finito al primo posto. Dopo il giro di boa, però la Benetton va in calando e si classifica al quinto posto. Ai play-off, negli ottavi di finale trova la seconda classificata della serie A2, la Mens Sana Siena, che elimina in tre gare. Ai quarti Treviso incontra il forte Messaggero Roma, con il quale i trevigiani devono issare bandiera bianca dopo tre combattutissime partite. Benché i sogni scudetto si frantumino, la Benetton acquisisce comunque il diritto di partecipare alla Coppa Korac.
Nell'estate 1991 la società cambia status giuridico, da Associazione Pallacanestro Treviso diventa Pallacanestro Treviso srl.
Nel 1991/92 la squadra viene notevolmente rinforzata con alcuni autentici colpi di mercato, che hanno anche richiamato l'attenzione oltreoceano, come gli ingaggi del croato Toni Kukoc, astro nascente dal basket europeo e futuro campione NBA, e del centro azzurro Stefano Rusconi. L'avvio di stagione si rivela incerto, poiché proprio i nuovi acquisti Kukoč e Rusconi si infortunano in maniera seria, tanto che restano lontani dal parquet per almeno un paio di mesi. Kukoč viene momentaneamente sostituito, in modalità "a gettone", dallo statunitense Randolph Keys. I primi traguardi sfumano: eliminazione dalla Coppa Korac dal Peristeri e sconfitta in finale di Coppa Italia dalla Scavolini Pesaro.
La stagione termina però in crescendo, con il secondo posto in regular season, che all'epoca fu il miglior piazzamento in assoluto nella storia del club. Nei quarti di finale dei playoff Treviso si sbarazza, in due sole gare, della Stefanel Trieste. In semifinale supera l'ambizioso Messaggero Roma, per 2-1 nella serie. In finale ritrova la Scavolini Pesaro, ma questa volta il team trevigiano rifila un 3-1 ai biancorossi marchigiani e può finalmente fregiarsi del primo scudetto della sua storia.
L’anno successivo è quello della difesa dello scudetto ma in estate la Benetton perde Del Negro che, allettato dalle offerte NBA, si accasa ai San Antonio Spurs. Al suo posto viene ingaggiato l'ex Lakers Terry Teagle. Inoltre vengono presi gli italiani Maurizio Ragazzi e Riccardo Esposito. Si inizia con la vittoria della prima Coppa Italia. Nel campionato europeo per club viene inopinatamente sconfitta, nella finalissima di Atene, dal Limoges CSP.
In campionato arriva un terzo posto in regular season. Ai playoff i biancoverdi battono, faticando, la Viola Reggio Calabria e l’Olimpia Milano, rispettivamente nei quarti e in semifinale. In finale scudetto c'è la Virtus Bologna, squadra che si aggiudica il titolo in tre gare.
Per la stagione successiva vengono scelti Fabrizio Frates come allenatore e nuovi giocatori: Riccardo Pittis da Milano e gli americani Winston Garland e Pace Mannion (poi sostituito da Raphael Addison) ma la stagione non porta successi, con la precoce eliminazione in Coppa dei Campioni e ai quarti dei playoff in campionato, dopo un mediocre ottavo posto in stagione regolare.
Per l'annata 1994/95 alla guida tecnica viene chiamato Mike D’Antoni e nel roster vengono inseriti la guardia macedone Petar Naumoski e l'ala grande statunitense Ken Barlow. L'avvio di stagione non sembra entusiasmare, ma, a stagione avviata, il deludente Barlow viene sostituito con "Big O" Orlando Woolridge. Nella primavera del 1995 la Benetton Basket sembra volare: in regular season vince dieci partite consecutive tra la prima e la seconda fase detta "a orologio", conquista la terza Coppa Italia nonché il primo trofeo internazionale, l'Eurocup ad Istanbul. Nei playoff la Benetton arriva in finale ma viene sconfitta, per la seconda volta in due anni, per 3-0 dalla Virtus Bologna.
Nel 1995/96, dopo le partenze di Naumoski e Woolridge e quelle ancor più clamorose di Iacopini e Rusconi, si assiste ad un forte ringiovanimento del parco giocatori. In questa occasione si accasano a Treviso il play Davide Bonora, il centro serbo Zeljko Rebraca e la guardia statunitense Henry Williams. In questa stagione, la Benetton manca di poco la finale scudetto e la partecipazione alle Final Four nell'Euroclub.
Con il 1996/97 il gruppo formatosi l'anno precedente, arricchito da Denis Marconato che prende il posto di Roberto Chiacig, da Glenn Sekunda (primo comunitario biancoverde) e Andrea Niccolai, oltre al rientro di Stefano Rusconi, dopo una parentesi nel campionato "pro" statunitense, arriva la conquista del secondo scudetto. Dopo una regular season terminata al primo posto, staccando di 10 punti la seconda, la vittoria arriva in una finale-scudetto giocata in cinque gare sul filo di nervi contro gli arrembanti bolognesi della Fortitudo.
Nell'estate del 1997 si deve dare l'addio a Mike D'Antoni, al quale viene offerto un posto di team manager dalla franchigia della NBA dei Denver Nuggets. Al suo posto la squadra viene affidata al coach serbo Zeljko Obradovic. Con lui la Benetton Basket conquista, nel settembre 1997, la Supercoppa Italiana. Proprio in quel periodo partecipa anche al McDonald's Open a Parigi come vincitrice del campionato italiano, arrivando al quinto posto. In Coppa Italia la Benetton arriva in finale, uscendo sconfitta contro la Fortitudo Bologna. In regular season terza, dietro alle due squadre bolognesi, ma ai playoff viene inopinatamente eliminata già ai quarti di finale, in cinque gare, dalla Pallacanestro Reggiana: la stagione si conclude quindi con un bilancio negativo.
All’inizio della stagione successiva vengono riconfermati l'allenatore ed alcuni giocatori-chiave come Pittis, Marconato, Bonora, Rebraca, Williams e Sekunda. A questi si aggiungono gli arrivi dell' argentina Marcelo Nicola, dello spagnolo Tomas Jofresa dello statunitense-tedesco Casey Schmidt. Questa stagione viene ricordata per il record di vittorie casalinghe, ben ventinove tra campionato italiano e Saporta Cup. Proprio la Saporta Cup da le soddisfazioni maggiori ai ragazzi di Obradović: dopo il girone eliminatorio impeccabile, Treviso supera ai quarti il Partizan Belgrado; in semifinale deve incontrare il Buducnost Podgorica, ma a causa dello scoppio della guerra nei Balcani, Treviso vince a tavolino e passa direttamente in finale, che si tiene a Saragozza, con gli spagnoli del Pamesa Valencia. Dopo una tesissima partita Treviso conquista il trofeo, l'unico della stagione. In Coppa Italia la Benetton viene sconfitta in semifinale dalla Virtus Bologna dopo due supplementari; in campionato, dopo il terzo posto in regular season, elimina agevolmente nei quarti di finale la Sony Milano, mentre in semifinale supera la Fortitudo Bologna solamente al termine di gara-5. In finale i biancoverdi trovano i Roosters Varese ma perdono 3-0 la serie, con i lombardi a festeggiare il loro decimo scudetto.
Nel 1999/2000 la squadra subisce un forte rinnovamento. Alla guida della squadra arriva il bolognese Piero Bucchi al posto di Obradović. Per quanto riguarda il parco giocatori, si accasano alla Benetton Tyus Edney, fresco vincitore dell'Eurolega con lo Zalgiris Kaunas, la guardia Jeff Sheppard, che sostituisce il partente Henry Williams, e l'ex-capitano del Real Madrid Ismael Santos.
La scommessa dello staff dirigente è vinta dato che questo gruppo gioca un basket divertente, conquista la Coppa Italia ai danni della Virtus Bologna; in regular season si piazza alla terza posizione. In Eurolega viene eliminata ai quarti di finale dalla Fortitudo Bologna. Ai playoff vengono eliminate Rimini, Trieste e Virtus Bologna. La finale scudetto viene disputata contro la Fortitudo Bologna: i trevigiani vincono la prima partita, ma la reazione dei bolognesi non si fa attendere, dato che vincono tre gare consecutive. Lo scudetto sfugge, ma l'annata si può dire soddisfacente.
Per la stagione 2000/01 la squadra viene ritoccata. Ritorna in maglia biancoverde la guardia macedone Naumoski. Altri colpi messi a segno furono l'acquisto di Marcus Brown, di Jorge Garbajosa e, in extremis, del centro Alan Tomidy. La squadra è ambiziosa e si prepara all'assalto di campionato italiano, Coppa Italia ed Eurolega. L'annata si rileva alla fine deludente per i biancoverdi, nonostante alcune punte spettacolari, come l'ottavo di finale contro il Barcellona, nel quale la squadra catalana è eliminata in due partite intensissime, poiché non arriva nessun trofeo. Non riesce a qualificarsi per le final eight di Coppa Italia, viene eliminata ai quarti di finale dall’AEK Atene e anche dalla lotta per lo scudetto italiano, in semifinale, dalla Virtus Bologna.
L'estate del 2001 segna il clamoroso ritorno a Treviso di due ex: il folletto Tyus Edney, dopo un anno con gli Indiana Pacers, e, in panchina, Mike D'Antoni, l'head coach dello scudetto del 1997.
Oltre a loro vengono presi la guardia tiratrice Cikalkin, l'ala slovena Bostjan Nachbar e la guardia Stojic. La stagione inizia bene, dato che già a settembre arriva la conquista della Supercoppa Italiana, sbaragliando la Kinder Bologna e la Scavolini Pesaro. Buono l'avvio anche in regular season, con la serie di undici vittorie consecutive, la Benetton conclude il girone d'andata in testa alla classifica provvisoria. Anche in Eurolega la Benetton riesce ad arrivare prima nel girone eliminatorio, benché si trovi ad affrontare, in un "girone di ferro", squadre molto attrezzate, tra cui Maccabi, Olympiakos, Efes e Malaga. In Coppa Italia, disputata a Forlì alla fine di febbraio 2002, viene però eliminata in semifinale dalla Mens Sana Siena. Così arriva l'innesto in squadra della guardia statunitense Charlie Bell, che risulta decisivo per la parte finale della stagione. Intanto il team trevigiano riesce a qualificarsi per le final four di Bologna, eliminando nelle Top16 la Scavolini Pesaro, la Skipper Bologna e il Barcellona, ma vengono sconfitti in semifinale dalla Kinder Bologna. Nel campionato italiano, la Benetton termina la stagione al secondo posto, dietro la Fortitudo Bologna. Iniziano così i play-off: ai quarti viene rifilato un secco 3-0 alla Coop Nordest Trieste. In semifinale, ritrova la Virtus Bologna, ma i "verdi della Marca" riescono a vendicarsi e in quattro gare, per 3 a 1, riescono ad aver la meglio. La finale scudetto si gioca contro l'altra bolognese, la Fortitudo, ma in questo caso Treviso ha vita facile: in tre gare supera nettamente le "Aquile", di cui ben due volte al PalaDozza; è il trionfo, terzo scudetto della storia per la Pallacanestro Treviso, rovinato solo dall'invasione della tifoseria fortitudina a poco più di un minuto al termine di gara-3.
"Ricomincio da tre" è lo slogan della Benetton nella stagione 2002/03. Ettore Messina, nemico di tante battaglie, viene scelto come nuovo coach al posto di Mike D’Antoni, dopo il suo secondo addio. Per quanto riguarda la squadra, arriva a Treviso Traian Langdon, forte guardia tiratrice. Con Messina in panchina, è l'annata magica per la Benetton, poiché domina incontrastata in Italia. Viene conquistata la Supercoppa Italiana, a settembre, battendo al palasport di Genova la Virtus Bologna. A febbraio arriva la vittoria in Coppa Italia, eliminando, nell'ordine, Viola Reggio Calabria (quarti),Pompea Napoli (semifinali) e Pallacanestro Cantù (finale).
Dopo una regular season dominata, la Benetton parte in pole position per i playoff. Ai quarti di finale incontra la Viola Reggio Calabria: dopo un sorprendente 2-0 a favore dei reggini, Treviso riesce a rimediare e, portandosi sul 3-2, supera l'ostacolo e passa in semifinale dove trova la Montepaschi Siena. La Benetton batte la squadra senese per 3-1 e passa in finale-scudetto, dove trova per la seconda volta consecutiva la Fortitudo Bologna. Nelle prime tre gare di finale, tiene il fattore campo, ma in gara-4 la Benetton viola il PalaDozza. Per la squadra trevigiana è il trionfo: in Italia conquista il grande slam. Per quanto concerne l'Eurolega, iniziano bene i gironi eliminatori e la squadra trevigiana vince anche il girone della Top16, che dà accesso alle Final Four, in programma a Barcellona. In semifinale batte, nell'Euroderby, la Mens Sana Siena, così la squadra trevigiana può giocarsi la finale europea contro il Barcellona, padrone di casa, che conquista il trofeo anche grazie alla maggior caratura del suo roster.
Nella stagione 2003/04 la squadra trevigiana, con il roster ben rodato, tranne qualche ritocco dato che Maurice Evans sostituisce il partente Langdon, ai nastri di partenza ha ancora fame di vittorie.
A febbraio conquista la Coppa Italia, battendo in finale la Scavolini Pesaro. Nonostante alcuni innesti al gruppo, come Jermaine Jackson e Ademola Okulaja, per la Benetton non si conclude bene la stagione, poiché viene eliminata in Eurolega ai quarti di finale e nei playoff-scudetto esce alle semifinali per mano della Fortitudo Bologna.
La stagione 2004/05 per la Benetton sembra l'inizio di un nuovo ciclo, poiché la squadra viene parzialmente rinnovata. Dopo l'uscita di scena di importanti pedine, ormai entrate nei cuori dei tifosi, quali in primis Pittis e Nicola, viene dato spazio a Bulleri, Marconato e a Matteo Soragna, quest'ultimo rilevato dalla Pallacanestro Biella, freschi di medaglia d'argento nel torneo olimpico. Oltre a questi si affiancano una serie di giovani talenti, tra cui Andrea Bargnani e Uros Slokar.
Per quanto riguarda gli stranieri d'esperienza, vengono messi sotto contratto Marlon Garnett, Marcus Goree e Ramunas Siskauskas. Ad ottobre la squadra trevigiana si esalta in Canada in un'amichevole con i Toronto Raptors persa per solo tre punti di scarto (86-83). In Italia la stagione sembra andare a gonfie vele: a febbraio, conquista della Coppa Italia, settima coccarda tricolore, e a maggio, primo posto in regular season, con sei punti di vantaggio sulla Fortitudo Bologna. In Eurolega viene eliminata ai quarti di finale dal Tau Vitoria. I playoff iniziano bene per la squadra trevigiana, perché, nei quarti di finale, rifilano un secco 3-0 a Napoli. In semifinale vengono eliminati dall'Olimpia Milano dopo cinque tiratissime partite (3-2 a favore della squadra meneghina che viola in gara-5 il PalaVerde). Il sogno scudetto svanisce.
Finita la stagione, il coach Ettore Messina firma per il CSKA Mosca: viene rimpiazzato, per l'annata 2005/06, da David Blatt, poi allenatore del Maccabi Tel Aviv e dei Cleveland Cavaliers. Salutano anche Denis Marconato e Massimo Bulleri, chiamati rispettivamente dal Barcellona e dall'Olimpia Milano. Le partenze vengono compensate dagli arrivi di Nikos Zizis, di Drew Nicholas e di Marco Mordente. Inoltre rientrano dal prestito Uros Slokar eGuilherme Giovannoni. Con coach Blatt i trevigiani in Coppa Italia vengono eliminati in semifinale da Napoli, che poi vincerà la coccarda tricolore, in Eurolega arrivano fino alle Top 16 e in campionato arrivano al terzo posto. Nei playoff scudetto i biancoverdi, ai quarti di finale, battono in cinque tiratissime gare l'Olimpia Milano, nelle semifinali eliminano la Virtus Roma ed infine, in finale, la Fortitudo Bologna, prevalendo per 3 a 1. Così la Benetton centra il suo quinto titolo. Il simbolo del trionfo di questo gruppo è Andrea Bargnani, che dopo solo nove giorni viene scelto come numero 1 al draft NBA del 2006. Con il giocatore romano se ne va anche il general manager Maurizio Gherardini, che andrà ad assumere la vicepresidenza dei Toronto Raptors.
Nell'estate 2006 inizia la ricostituzione della squadra e dello staff tecnico. La stagione inizia bene, dato che, in settembre, arriva la conquista della Supercoppa Italiana a danni dell'Eldo Napoli. Subito dopo iniziano i problemi: infortunio alla guardia statunitense Richie Frahm, che non rientrerà più in campo. Arrivano così i rinforzi: dapprima viene rilevato Bryant Smith, utilizzato quasi esclusivamente in Eurolega, poi Preston Shumpert dalla Fortitudo Bologna, nel periodo natalizio. Nel gennaio 2007 viene ingaggiato Erazem Lorbek in uscita da Malaga. Con la squadra rimaneggiata, arriva la conquista dell'ottava Coppa Italia, disputata ai primi di febbraio a Casalecchio di Reno, battendo a domicilio proprio la VidiVici Bologna. Subito dopo la conquista del titolo arriva la bufera del cosiddetto "caso Lorbek": essendo lo sloveno il diciannovesimo tesserato (il limite per stagione è fissato a diciotto) la società viene prima penalizzata di 18 punti, poi ridotti a 12 dal Collegio Arbitrale del CONI. Per questo fatto, dopo che le forze di polizia hanno intercettato alcune telefonate, il presidente Giorgio Buzzavo, il general manager Andrea Fadini e il direttore sportivo Andrea Cirelli, questi ultimi due non più nei ranghi societari, sono rinviati a giudizio dalla giustizia ordinaria per frode sportiva e falso ideologico. Nonostante la penalizzazione, la Benetton termina all'undicesimo posto.
Per la stagione 2007/08 viene rinnovata profondamente la squadra e al posto di David Blatt, in panchina, subentra Alessandro Ramagli. L'inizio di stagione si rivela però negativo e il 7 novembre avviene la rescissione consensuale del contratto. La squadra viene temporaneamente affidata all'assistant-coach veneziano Frank Vitucci, fino all'ingaggio dell'ex-allenatore dell'Efes Pilsen, il turco Oktay Mahmuti. Nonostante ciò la Benetton finisce undicesima in regular season e quindi esclusa dai playoff scudetto. In Uleb Cup invece viene eliminata ai sedicesimi di finale. In sostanza un'annata da dimenticare.
Nell'estate 2008, viene compiuta l'ennesima rivoluzione, poiché a rimanere sono solo Matteo Soragna, Andrea Renzi e il coach Oktay Mahmuti. In seguito al ridimsionamento del budget, il general manager Enzo Lefebre cerca di costruite una squadra esperta: arriva da Cantù il folletto Dashaun Wood, mentre come guardie viene scelto Gary Neal, ex bomber del Barcellona (anche se le cose migliori le aveva fatte vedere in Turchia). Sul reparto esterni arriva C.J. Wallace, da Capo D'Orlando dove aveva una media di 15 punti e 10 rimbalzi. Altri arrivi: Sandro Nicević, Radoslav Rančík e Domen Lorbek (fratello dell'ex giocatore di Roma, ora in forza al CSKA di Mosca), segno che il coach ha puntato molto sul mercato baltico. Poco prima dell'inizio del campionato, piove sul bagnato per la Benetton, visto che Dashaun Wood, infortunato in una gara di precampionato, deve operarsi al ginocchio; con una prognosi di tre mesi, la società si cautela ingaggiando il play Bobby Dixon. Il nuovo play-maker Dixon è successivamente tagliato per permettere alla società di far tornare con la casacca biancoverde Massimo Bulleri, il quale trascina la squadra alla Final Eight di coppa Uleb a Torino, dove la Benetton è costretta ad arrendersi ai quarti ai lituani del Lietuvos Rytas, che andranno poi a vincere la coppa. La stagione comunque si chiude bene, con la Benetton che si piazza al quarto posto, e con l'approdo in semifinale playoff (dopo una serie combattuta ai quarti di finale contro la Virtus Bologna, terminata sul 3-2 per i trevigiani), rientrando "nell'Europa che conta" ovvero l'Eurocup. Nel giugno del 2009 c'è un'altra rivoluzione con la rescissione consensuale del contratto del tecnico Mahmuti (al suo posto Vitucci, head coach dopo sei anni da secondo) e l'ingaggio del giovane nazionale italiano Daniel Hackett. Inoltre, arriva anche la giovane promessa Donatas Motiejunas. Nonostante le buone premesse la prima parte della stagione 2009/2010 non è positiva per la Benetton, tanto che si arriva all'esonero di Vitucci; il suo posto viene preso dal croato Jasmin Repesa. Alla fine della stagione la Benetton riesce a piazzarsi all'ottavo posto, ultimo valido per partecipare ai play-off scudetto, ma viene eliminata subito da Siena.
Nell'aprile del 2011 disputa in casa, al PalaVerde di Treviso, la Final Four dell'Eurocup 2011. Dopo aver perso la semifinale contro il Cajasol Sevilla, perde anche la finale per il terzo posto contro il Cedevita Zagabria.
Il 2 luglio 2011 Aleksandar Djordevic viene nominato allenatore. Entrano a far parte della squadra Sani Becirovic, Brian Scalabrine, Jeff Adrien, E’Twaun Moore e i promettenti Gal Mekel e Vlad Moldoveanu. Tra arrivi e partenze (tra cui lo scambio di Alessandro Gentile con Jeff Viggiano e le partenze di Scalabrine, Adrien e Moore dopo appena poche settimane) la Benetton si classifica dodicesima al termine della stagione regolare senza raggiungere i play-off; è anche eliminata al secondo turno in Eurocup.
Nel febbraio 2011 il patron Gilberto Benetton annuncia che dal luglio 2012 il gruppo Benetton abbandonerà il basket professionistico per dedicarsi solamente al settore giovanile e alla Benetton Rugby Treviso L'eredità della prima squadra professionistica viene idealmente raccolta da Universo Treviso Basket che milita in Serie A senza però vedersi attribuiti i titoli vinti poiché la società trevigiana è in attività e non ha cessato di esistere. Nell'estate 2015, con una squadra composta da atleti giovani, il club torna nei campionati cestistici senior iscrivendosi al campionato di serie C Silver Veneto.

After a period of difficulty and some relegations, the club takes the name of Associazione Pallacanestro Treviso and the corporate responsibility passes to Luciano Bortoletto. Since 1971 it has been sponsored by Faram.
Treviso team made a resounding leap, because it first conquered the Serie C and later, thanks to the merger of two other companies in 1976, also the B series.
In 1978 the first professional was hired coach, Mario De Sisti, and the sponsorship is also changed, to Faram takes over the Liberti of Aldo Bordignon, who becomes president. In 1979, after beating Pallacanestro Livorno in the play-off, the promotion to the Serie A2 came.
In the 1980/81 season, Liberti, always coached by De Sisti, reached the third place, with a good road map of twenty-one games won and eleven lost, and got promotion to the A1 series.
In the following season, Benetton took over as sponsor, but since it did not have a building suitable for the top flight, the Treviso team was forced to emigrate to Padova.
The team was unable to avoid relegation at the end of the season.
The construction of an hall just outside the city of Treviso started in that period and saw the light in 1983: it will be called Palaverde, having been built with the contribution of the Benetton family (5.300 seats).
At the end of the 1984/85 season, the team finished second in A2 and secured a return to the top flight. The coach is Massimo Mangano and the foreigners players are Dale Solomon and the Nigerian Abayomi Sangodey.
In the following season are added to the roster players of the caliber of Massimo Iacopini, Charlie Caglieris and Audie Norris (injured soon and replaced by Joe Kopicki) but relegation is inevitable.
In 1986/87 the "baron" Riccardo Sales was called to the technical leadership, who managed to immediately bring the team back to A1 and participate in the first round of the Scudetto playoffs, but was eliminated in three games by Pallacanestro Livorno.
The following year saw consolidation and salvation achieved after the playouts.
In 1988/89, Benetton set itself, in addition to salvation, more ambitious goals, namely the conquest of the play-offs. The Americans Kyle Macy and Dan Gay and the Italian Pietro Generali are taken on the market, which are added to the roster of Italians now tested that includes Massimo Iacopini, Paolo Vazzoler, Massimo Minto and Paolo Pressacco. The results did not delay, given that in the regular season Benetton reaches the fourth place, position of absolute regard, never conquered before, and, although it is already eliminated in the quarter-off by Olimpia Milano, which opens great prospects for the future.
The following season, however, is not as happy: Sales is sacked in the current season and the salvation comes only on the last day of the playout against Glaxo Verona.
For the 1990/91 season the Croatian Petar Skansi was called to the helm of Benetton Basket. In addition comes Vinny Del Negro, American guard of Italian origin, with two years of experience in the NBA. The start of the season is exciting: Del Negro drags the team into a formidable first round, finished in first place. After the turning point, however, Benetton went down and ranked fifth. In the playoffs, in the round of 16, Mens Sana Siena finished second in the A2 series, eliminating in three races. In the quarter Treviso meets the strong Messaggero Roma, with which the Treviso must raise white flag after three hard-fought matches. Although the Scudetto dreams are shattered, Benetton still acquires the right to participate in the Korac Cup.
During summer 1991 the company changed its legal status from Associazione Pallacanestro Treviso to Pallacanestro Treviso srl.
In 1991/92 the team was considerably strengthened with some authentic market shots, which also attracted attention overseas, such as the signing of the Croatian Toni Kukoc, rising star from European basketball and future NBA champion, and the Italian center Stefano Rusconi. The start of the season is uncertain, because the new purchases Kukoč and Rusconi are seriously injured, so much so that they remain away from the parquet for at least a couple of months. Kukoč was temporarily replaced, in "token" mode, by the American Randolph Keys. The first goals fade: elimination from the Korac Cup by Peristeri and defeat in the final of the Italian Cup by Scavolini Pesaro.
The season ended in a crescendo, with the second place in the regular season, which at the time was the best finish in the club’s history. In the quarter-finals of the playoffs Treviso gets rid, in only two games, of Stefanel Trieste. In the semi-final it beats the ambitious Messaggero Roma, 2-1 in the series. In the final it finds the Scavolini Pesaro, but this time the team from Treviso finishes a 3-1 to the white-red from Marche region and can finally be awarded the first title in its history.
The following year it was the Scudetto defense but during the summer Benetton lost Del Negro who, enticed by the NBA offers, joined the San Antonio Spurs. Former Lakers Terry Teagle was hired in his place. In addition, the Italians Maurizio Ragazzi and Riccardo Esposito were hired. It starts with the victory of the first Italian Cup. In the European Club championship it was unexpectedly defeated, in the final of Athens, by Limoges CSP.
In the championship comes a third place in the regular season. In the playoffs, the Biancoverdi beat, struggling, Viola Reggio Calabria and Olimpia Milano, respectively in the quarterfinals and semi-finals. In the Scudetto final there is Virtus Bologna, the team that wins the title in three races.
For the following season are chosen Fabrizio Frates as coach and new players: Riccardo Pittis from Milan and the Americans Winston Garland and Pace Mannion (then replaced by Raphael Addison) but the season does not bring success, with the early elimination in the European Cup and the quarter-finals of the league playoffs, after a mediocre eighth place in the regular season.
For the 1994/95 season it was called Mike D'Antoni and the roster included Macedonian guard Petar Naumoski and American forward Ken Barlow. The start of the season did not seem to excite, but with the season started, the disappointing Barlow is replaced with "Big O" Orlando Woolridge. In the spring of 1995, Benetton Basket seems to fly: in regular season, it won ten consecutive games between the first and second "clock" stages, won the third Italian Cup and the first international trophy, the Eurocup in Istanbul. In the playoffs, Benetton reached the final but was defeated, for the second time in two years, 3-0 by Virtus Bologna.
In 1995/96, after the departures of Naumoski and Woolridge and the even more sensational ones of Iacopini and Rusconi, there is a strong rejuvenation of the players' park. On this occasion the play Davide Bonora, the Serbian center Zeljko Rebraca and the American guard Henry Williams joined Treviso. This season, Benetton is just missing the Scudetto final and participation in the Final Four in the Euroclub.
With 1996/97 the group formed the previous year, enriched by Denis Marconato who takes the place of Roberto Chiacig, by Glenn Sekunda (first white community) and Andrea Niccolai, in addition to the return of Stefano Rusconi, after a parenthesis in the pro American championship, comes the conquest of the second Scudetto. After a regular season finished in first place, leaving behind the second by 10 points, the victory comes in a final-Scudetto played in five races on the edge against the fighting Fortitudo Bologna.
In the summer of 1997, Mike D'Antoni was offered a job as team manager by the Denver Nuggets. The team guide passed to Serbian coach Zeljko Obradovic. With him, Benetton Basket won the Italian Super Cup in September 1997. At that time it also participated in the McDonald’s Open in Paris as winner of the Italian championship, finishing fifth. In the Coppa Italia, Benetton reached the final, losing to Fortitudo Bologna. In regular season third, behind the two Bologna teams, but in the playoffs is unexpectedly eliminated already in the quarterfinals, in five games, by Pallacanestro Reggiana: the season ends with a negative result.
At the beginning of the following season the coach and some key players such as Pittis, Marconato, Bonora, Rebraca, Williams and Sekunda were reconfirmed. To these are added the arrivals of the Argentine Marcelo Nicola, the Spanish Tomas Jofresa and the American-German Casey Schmidt. This season is remembered for the record of home victories, twenty-nine between Italian championship and Saporta Cup. Just the Saporta Cup gives the greatest satisfaction to the guys of Obradović: after the impeccable eliminatory round, Treviso overtakes Partizan Belgrade in the quarterfinals; in the semifinals must meet Buducnost Podgorica, but due to the outbreak of war in the Balkans, Treviso wins and goes directly to the final, held in Zaragoza, with the Spaniards of Pamesa Valencia. After a very long game Treviso wins the trophy, the only one of the Season. In the Italian Cup Benetton was defeated in the semifinals by Virtus Bologna after two overtimes; in the league, after the third place in the regular season, easily eliminates in the quarterfinals Sony Milano, while in the semifinals it passed Fortitudo Bologna only at the end of game-5.
In the final the green-whites find the Roosters Varese but lose 3-0 the series, with the Lombards to celebrate their tenth title.
In 1999/2000 the team underwent a strong renewal. Leading the team came from Bologna Piero Bucchi in place of Obradović. As for the players, they join Benetton’s Tyus Edney, fresh winner of the Euroleague with Zalgiris Kaunas, guard Jeff Sheppard, who replaces starting Henry Williams, and former Real Madrid captain Ismael Santos.
The bet of the staff manager is won since this group plays a fun basketball, conquers the Coppa Italia against Virtus Bologna; in the regular season is placed in third place. In the Euroleague, it was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Fortitudo Bologna. Rimini, Trieste and Virtus Bologna were eliminated in the playoffs. The Scudetto final was played against Fortitudo Bologna: the Treviso players won the first match, but the reaction of the Bologna players did not wait, as they won three consecutive games. The title eludes, but the season can be said to be satisfactory.
For the 2000/01 season, the team was retouched. The Macedonian guard Naumoski returned to Treviso. Other hits were the purchase of Marcus Brown, Jorge Garbajosa and, in extremis, Alan Tomidy. The team is ambitious and is preparing for the assault of the Italian championship, Coppa Italia and Euroleague. The year was disappointing for the Biancoverdi, despite some spectacular tips, such as the eighth final against Barcelona, in which the Catalan team is eliminated in two intense matches, as no trophy arrives. It failed to qualify for the final eight of the Italian Cup, it was eliminated in the quarter-finals by AEK Athens and also by the fight for the Italian Championship, in the semifinals, by Virtus Bologna.
The summer of 2001 marked the resounding return to Treviso of two former players: the leprechaun Tyus Edney, after a year with the Indiana Pacers, and, on the bench, Mike D'Antoni, the head coach of the 1997 title.
In addition to them are taken the shooting guard Cikalkin, the Slovenian forward Bostjan Nachbar and the guard Stojic. The season starts well, since already in September comes the conquest of the Supercoppa Italiana, beating Kinder Bologna and Scavolini Pesaro. Good start also in the regular season, with the series of eleven consecutive victories, Benetton concludes the group of first place in the provisional standings. In the Euroleague, too, Benetton managed to finish first in the qualifying round, even though it faced, in an "iron group", well-equipped teams, including Maccabi, Olympiakos, Efes and Malaga. In the Coppa Italia, held in Forlì at the end of February 2002, it was eliminated in the semifinals by Mens Sana Siena. Thus comes the addition of the American guard Charlie Bell, which is decisive for the final part of the season. Meanwhile, the team from Treviso managed to qualify for the final four of Bologna, eliminating in the Top 16 Scavolini Pesaro, Skipper Bologna and Barcelona, but was defeated in the semifinals by Kinder Bologna. In the Italian championship, Benetton finished the season in second place, behind Fortitudo Bologna. This is how the play-offs began: in the quarterfinals a 3-0 draw was dealt to Coop Nordest Trieste. In the semi-final, Virtus Bologna found again, but the "Marca Greens" managed to get revenge and in four games, 3 to 1, they managed to get the better. The Scudetto final is played against the other Bologna team, Fortitudo, but in this case Treviso has an easy life: in three rounds it clearly exceeds the "Aquile", of which twice at PalaDozza; it is the triumph, third title in history for Basketball Treviso, ruined only by the invasion of the Bologna fans a little over a minute at the end of game-3.
"I start from three" is Benetton’s slogan for the 2002/03 season. Ettore Messina, enemy of many battles, is chosen as the new coach in place of Mike D'Antoni, after his second farewell. As for the team, comes to Treviso Traian Langdon, strong shooting guard. With Messina on the bench, it is the magic year for Benetton, as it dominates unchallenged in Italy. It won the Supercoppa Italiana in September, beating Virtus Bologna at the Genoa stadium. In February came the victory in the Coppa Italia, eliminating, in order, Viola Reggio Calabria (quarter), Pompea Napoli (semi-finals) and Pallacanestro Cantù (final).
After a dominant regular season, Benetton started on pole position for the playoffs. In the quarterfinals it met Viola Reggio Calabria: after a surprising 2-0 in favor of the Reggio Calabria, Treviso managed to remedy and, bringing itself to the 3-2, overcomes the obstacle and goes to the semifinals where it found Montepaschi. Benetton beat the Siena team 3-1 and went on to the Scudetto final, where it found Fortitudo Bologna for the second time in a row. In the first three final games, it held the field factor, but in game-4 Benetton violated the PalaDozza. For the Treviso team it is the triumph: in Italy it wins the Grand Slam. As for the Euroleague, the eliminatory groups start well and the Treviso team also wins the Top16 group, which gives access to the Final Four, scheduled in Barcelona. In the semi-final, Euroderby defeated Mens Sana Siena, so Treviso team can play the European final against Barcelona, host, who won the trophy thanks to the greater caliber of its roster.
In the 2003/04 season the team from Treviso, with the roster well-established, except for a few tweaks since Maurice Evans replaces the starter Langdon, at the start is still hungry for victories.
In February it won the Coppa Italia, beating Scavolini Pesaro in the final. Despite a few additions to the group, such as Jermaine Jackson and Ademola Okulaja, for Benetton the season did not end well, as it was eliminated in the Euroleague in the quarter-finals and in the playoffs-league came out in the semifinals at the hands of Fortitudo Bologna.
The 2004/05 season for Benetton looks like the beginning of a new cycle, as the team is partially renewed. After the departure of important pawns, now in the hearts of fans, such as Pittis and Nicola, is given space to Bulleri, Marconato and Matteo Soragna, the latter taken over by Pallacanestro Biella, fresh silver medal in the Olympic tournament. In addition to these are a series of young talents, including Andrea Bargnani and Uros Slokar.
As for the experienced foreigners, Marlon Garnett, Marcus Goree and Ramunas Siskauskas are signed. In October, the Treviso team is exalted in Canada in a friendly match with the Toronto Raptors lost by only three points (86-83). In Italy the season seems to be going well: in February, conquest of the Coppa Italia, seventh tricolour cockade, and in May, first place in the regular season, with six points ahead of Fortitudo Bologna. In the Euroleague, it was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Tau Vitoria. The playoffs start well for the Treviso team, because, in the quarter-finals, it finishes 3-0 in Naples. In the semifinals it was eliminated by Olimpia Milano after five very tight matches (3-2 in favor of the Milanese team that violates in race-5 the Palaverde). The dream of the Scudetto vanishes.
After the season, coach Ettore Messina signed for CSKA Moscow: he was replaced, for the 2005/06 season, by David Blatt, then coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Denis Marconato and Massimo Bulleri, called respectively by Barcelona and Olimpia Milano, are also greeted. Departures are compensated by the arrivals of Nikos Zizis, Drew Nicholas and Marco Mordente. Uros Slokar and Guilherme Giovannoni are also on loan. With coach Blatt Treviso is eliminated in the Coppa Italia in the semifinals by Naples, which then will win the tricolor cockade, in the Euroleague it reaches the Top 16 and in the championship it comes to the third place. In the Scudetto playoffs, the Biancoverdi, in the quarter-finals, beat Olimpia Milano in five very close games, in the semi-finals they eliminated Virtus Roma and finally, in the final, Fortitudo Bologna, beating 3 to 1. So Benetton hits its fifth title. The symbol of the triumph of this group is Andrea Bargnani, who after only nine days is chosen as number 1 in the 2006 NBA draft. General manager Maurizio Gherardini is also leaving with the Roman player, who will take over the vice-presidency of the Toronto Raptors.
In the summer of 2006, the team and technical staff began to rebuild. The season starts well, since, in September, comes the conquest of the Supercoppa Italiana to the detriment of Eldo Napoli. Soon after, problems began: an injury to the American guard Richie Frahm, who did not return to the field. Reinforcements arrived: first Bryant Smith was taken over, used almost exclusively in the Euroleague, then Preston Shumpert from Fortitudo Bologna, during the Christmas period. In January 2007, Erazem Lorbek signed with Malaga. With the team reworked, comes the conquest of the eighth Coppa Italia, played in early February in Casalecchio di Reno, beating home the VidiVici Bologna.
Immediately after the conquest of the title comes the storm of the so-called "Lorbek case": being the Slovenian the nineteenth card (the limit per season is set at eighteen) the company is first penalized by 18 points, then reduced to 12 by the Arbitration Committee of the CONI. For this reason, after the police have intercepted some phone calls, the president Giorgio Buzzavo, the general manager Andrea Fadini and the sports director Andrea Cirelli, the latter two no longer in the company ranks, are returned to trial by ordinary justice for sports fraud and false ideological. Despite the penalty, Benetton finished 11th.
For the 2007/08 season the team was profoundly renewed and in place of David Blatt, on the bench, Alessandro Ramagli took over. However, the start of the season was negative and on 7 November the contract was terminated by consensus. The team was temporarily entrusted to the Venetian assistant coach Frank Vitucci, until the appointment of the former Efes Pilsen coach, the Turkish Oktay Mahmuti. Despite this, Benetton finished eleventh in the regular season and thus excluded from the Scudetto playoffs. In Uleb Cup instead is eliminated in the round of 32. Basically an year to forget.
In the summer of 2008, the umpteenth revolution was accomplished, as only Matteo Soragna, Andrea Renzi and coach Oktay Mahmuti remained. Following the redeployment of the budget, the general manager Enzo Lefebre tries to build a team experienced: comes from Cantù the leprechaun Dashaun Wood, while as guards is chosen Gary Neal, former Barcelona bomber (although the best things had shown in Turkey). On the outside comes C.J. Wallace, from Capo D'Orlando where he averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds. Other arrivals: Sandro Nicević, Radoslav Rančík and Domen Lorbek (brother of the former Roma player, now in force at CSKA in Moscow), a sign that the coach has bet a lot on the Baltic market. Just before the start of the season, it was raining wet for Benetton, as Dashaun Wood, injured in a pre-season race, had to operate on her knee; with a prognosis of three months, the company cautiously engaged Bobby Dixon. The new play-maker Dixon is later cut to allow the company to return with the green-white jacket Massimo Bulleri, who drags the team to the Final Eight of the Uleb Cup in Turin, where Benetton is forced to surrender in the quarterfinals to the Lithuanians of Lietuvos Rytas, who will then win the cup. However, the season ended well, with Benetton in fourth place, and with the arrival in the semi-final playoff (after a series fought in the quarter-finals against Virtus Bologna, finished 3-2 for the Treviso), returning to "Europe that counts" or the Eurocup. In the semi-final, Benetton was stopped by Mens Sana Siena.
In June 2009 there was another revolution with the consensual termination of the contract of coach Mahmuti (in his place Vitucci, head coach after six years from second) and the recruitment of the young Italian national Daniel Hackett. In addition, the young promise Donatas Motiejunas arrives.
Despite the good conditions, the first part of the 2009/2010 season was not positive for Benetton, so much so that Vitucci was sacked; his place was taken by the Croatian Jasmin Repesa. At the end of the season Benetton managed to finish in eighth place, last valid to participate in the Scudetto play-off, but was immediately eliminated by Siena.
In April 2011, the Final Four of the Eurocup 2011 took place at the Treviso Palaverde. After losing the semi-final to Cajasol Sevilla, it also lost the third-place final to Cedevita Zagreb.
On 2 July 2011, Aleksandar Djordevic was appointed coach. Sani Becirovic, Brian Scalabrine, Jeff Adrien, E'Twaun Moore and promising Gal Mekel and Vlad Moldoveanu join the team. Between arrivals and departures (including the exchange of Alessandro Gentile with Jeff Viggiano and the departures of Scalabrine, Adrien and Moore after just a few weeks) Benetton ranks twelfth at the end of the regular season without reaching the play-offs; is also eliminated in the second round in Eurocup.
In February 2011, patron Gilberto Benetton announced that from July 2012, the Benetton Group would be abandoning professional basketball to focus solely on the youth sector and Benetton Rugby Treviso Universo Treviso Basketball that plays in Serie A without being attributed the titles won because the Treviso club is in business and has not ceased to exist. In the summer of 2015, with a team made up of young athletes, the club returned to the senior basketball leagues by registering for the C Silver Veneto championship.
