Baskets Oldenburg, per motivi di sponsorizzazione EWE Baskets Oldenburg, ha sede nella città di Oldenburg, nella Germania nordoccidentale.
Il nome del club deriva dallo sponsor principale della squadra EWE AG, che è una società di servizi elettrici. Le origini del club risalgono al 1954, come dipartimento di basket del club sportivo Oldenburger TB. Nel 2001 il dipartimento di pallacanestro di Oldenburger TB ha creato un nuovo club separato, chiamato EWE Baskets Oldenburg ed Il team Oldenburger TB ha iniziato a fungere da team di sviluppo del nuovo club.
Nella stagione 2008/09 l'EWE Baskets Oldenburg ha ottenuto il suo più grande successo, vincendo il titolo del campionato tedesco, ottenendo quindi il diritto di giocare in Euroleague nella stagione successiva.
Nel 2015, ha ospitato le Final Four della Coppa di Germania, conquistata battendo in semifinale la Telekom Bonn ed in finale il Brose Bamberg.
Le partite casalinghe dell'Oldenburg si svolgono presso la Grosse EWE Arena (6.000 posti) , inaugurata nel 2013.

Baskets Oldenburg, for sponsorship reasons EWE Baskets Oldenburg, is based in the city of Oldenburg, Northwest Germany.
The name of the club comes from the main sponsor of the EWE AG team, which is an electrical services company. The club’s origins date back to 1954, as the basketball department of the sports club Oldenburger TB.
In 2001 the basketball department of Oldenburger TB created a new separate club, called EWE Baskets Oldenburg and Team Oldenburger TB began to serve as the development team of the new club.
In the 2008/09 season, EWE Baskets Oldenburg achieved its greatest success, winning the title of the German league, thus obtaining the right to play in the Euroleague in the following season.
In 2015, it hosted the Final Four of the German Cup, won by beating Telekom Bonn in the semifinals and Brose Bamberg in the final.
Oldenburg’s home matches are held at the Grosse EWE Arena (6.000 seats) which opened in 2013.
