Il Panathinaikos A.O. (K.A.E. Panathinaïkós) è la squadra di basket della società polisportiva Panathinaikos A.O., club con sede ad Atene.
Fondato nel 1919 (il club atletico che diede il via alla polisportiva risale al 1908) e di proprietà dei magnati della farmaceutica Pavlos e Thanassis Giannakopoulos, il Panathinaikos è il migliore team cestistico di tutta la Grecia, ed uno dei migliori in Europa.
Nella sua bacheca figurano un gran numero di campionati nazionali, Coppe di Grecia, Coppe dei Campioni ed Euroleghe ed una Coppa Intercontinentale.
Numerosi giocatori di fama internazionale hanno vestito la maglia bianco verde (Dominique Wilkins, Frangiskos Alvertis, Byron Scott, Dino Radja, Deian Bodiroga, Nikos Galis, Panagiotis Giannakis, Stojko Vrankovic, Zarko Paspalj, Antonio Davis, Zeljko Rebraca, Sarunas Jasikevicius, Dimitris Diamantidis tra gli altri).
Anche gli allenatori che sono stati sulla panchina del club non vanno dimenticati: Bozidar Maljkovic, Slobodan Subotic, Zeljko Obradovic, Sasha Djordevic, Xavi Pascual e Rick Pitino, solo per citarne alcuni.
Assieme all’Aris di Salonicco sono le uniche due squadre ad aver sempre preso parte al massimo campionato greco.
Tra i vari record che il club può vantare c’è quello dei campionati nazionali vinti consecutivamente (nove, dal 2003 al 2011) e delle Coppe di Grecia (sei, dal 2012 al 2017).
La squadra gioca le partite casalinghe nell'OACA Olympic Indoor Hall, che ha una capacità massima di 19.250 persone per le partite di basket.
La parte della tifoseria più calda del club è nota con il nome di Gate 13, in onore del cancello numero 13, dove i tifosi dei posti non numerati erano soliti radunarsi per entrare allo stadio. Sono divenuti gruppo organizzato nel 1952 e il loro “Horto Magiko” è uno degli inni più conosciuti tra le tifoserie del continente.

Panathinaikos A.O. (K.A.E. Panathinaïkós) is the basketball team of the multi-sports club Panathinaikos A.O., based in Athens.
Founded in 1919 (the athletic club that started the sports club dates back to 1908) and owned by the pharmaceutical magnates Pavlos and Thanassis Giannakopoulos, Panathinaikos is the best basketball team in Greece, and one of the best in Europe.
Its palmares includes a large number of National Championships, Greek Cups, Champions Cups and Euroleague and an Intercontinental Cup.
Numerous internationally renowned players have dressed the green white jersey (Dominique Wilkins, Frangiskos Alvertis, Byron Scott, Dino Radja, Deian Bodiroga, Nikos Galis, Panagiotis Giannakis, Stojko Vrankovic, Zarko Paspalj, Antonio Davis, Zeljko Rebraca, Sarunas Jasikevicius, Dimitris Diamantidis among others).
Also the coaches who have been on the bench of the club should not be forgotten: Bozidar Maljkovic, Slobodan Subotic, Zeljko Obradovic, Sasha Djordevic, Xavi Pascual and Rick Pitino, just to name a few.
Together with Aris of Thessaloniki they are the only two teams to have always taken part in the highest Greek league.
Among the various records that the club can boast is that of the national championships won consecutively (nine, from 2003 to 2011) and the Greek Cups (six, from 2012 to 2017).
The team plays its home games in the OACA Olympic Indoor Hall, which has a maximum capacity of 19.200 for basketball games.
The hottest part of the club is known as Gate 13, in honor of gate number 13, where the fans of the unnumbered seats used to gather to enter the stadium. They became an organized group in 1952 and their "Horto Magiko" is one of the most famous hymns among the fans of the continent.
