I Bakken Bears hanno sede ad Aarhus, sulla costa orientale dello Jutland.
Il club con diciannove titoli detiene il record per il maggior numero di campionati vinti nella Basketligaen; a questi vanno aggiunte dodici coppe di Danimarca ed una costante presenza nelle competizioni europee.
I Bakken Bears si sono formati nel 1953 con il nome di Aarhus Basketball Forening , o semplicemente ABF . Dal 1962, il club era conosciuto come Skovbakken Basketball.
Da allora, i Bears sono stati nel massimo campionato danese quasi ogni anno e hanno vinto il loro primo titolo nel 1958.
Negli anni dal 2005 al 2009, il club ha fatto parte di Aarhus Elite A/S, un'organizzazione sportiva d'élite ad Aarhus che include la squadra del AGF Football. Negli ultimi mesi del 2009 un gruppo di imprenditori locali, sponsor e tifosi ha acquistato la squadra.
Quando i Bakken Bears hanno ospitato il Team FOG Naestved in gara 1 delle semifinali di campionato nel marzo 2009, 4.816 spettatori hanno assistito alla partita all’Aarhus Arena stabilendo il record di presenze di tutti i tempi per il basket in Danimarca.
Nell'estate del 2018, anche il team di sviluppo dei Bears EBAA (Elite Basket Akademi Aarhus) è entrato nella Basketligaen.
Il 27 marzo 2018, i Bakken Bears si sono qualificati per la prima volta in assoluto per una semifinale di una competizione europea, eliminando i francesi del ESSM Le Portel nei quarti di finale della FIBA Europe Cup.

Bakken Bears are based in Aarhus, on the east coast of Jutland.
The club with nineteen titles holds the record for the highest number of championships won in the Basketligaen; also twelve cups of Denmark and a constant presence in European competitions have to added to this result.
Bakken Bears were created in 1953 as Aarhus Basketball Forening, or simply ABF. By 1962, the club was known as Skovbakken Basketball.
Since then, the Bears have been in the Danish top league almost every year and won their first title in 1958.
In the years 2005 to 2009, the club was part of Aarhus Elite A/S, an elite sports organization in Aarhus that includes the AGF Football team. In the last months of 2009 a group of local entrepreneurs, sponsors and fans bought the team.
When the Bakken Bears hosted Team FOG Naestved in Game 1 of the league semifinals in March 2009, 4.816 spectators watched the game at the Aarhus Arena setting the all-time record for basketball in Denmark.
In the summer of 2018, the Bears development team EBAA (Elite Basketball Akademi Aarhus) also entered the Basketligaen.
On March 27, 2018, the Bakken Bears qualified for the first time ever for a semi-final of a European competition, eliminating the French ESSM Le Portel in the quarterfinals of the FIBA Europe Cup.
