La Cestistica San Severo è squadra di basket della città di San Severo, in provincia di Foggia.
La fondazione della squadra, allora denominata G.S. Cannelonga Mobili avvenne nel 1966. La denominazione rimase così fino al 23 luglio 1970, dopo varie partecipazioni ai campionati di promozione e la conquista della serie D. Solo allora il nome della formazione mutò in Cestistica San Severo. Successivamente, nel 1974, la squadra venne promossa in serie C ma non riuscì ad evitare l’immediata retrocessione. Tuttavia, l'anno dopo, grazie soprattutto all'apporto di ragazzi provenienti dal vivaio e dal giovanissimo talento Walter Magnifico, la formazione sanseverese riuscì a riconquistare la serie C, questa volta mantenuta grazie anche a dei rinforzi ulteriori nel roster.
Dopo aver conquistato la promozione in serie B e un campionato nel 1978, anno in cui la Cestistica disputò la poule A2 per la promozione nella seconda serie nazionale, la squadra ebbe un notevole crollo, dovuto soprattutto alla partenza di Magnifico, acquistato dalla Fortitudo Bologna (allora denominata Mercury).
Nel 1980 la formazione pugliese retrocedette in serie C, serie che mantenne fino ad una parentesi nel 1983, quando venne promossa nuovamente in serie B ma retrocedendo subito al termine della stagione. Seguirono annate non esaltanti in cui la società tornò a giocare anche nel campionato di serie D.
La promozione in serie B venne riconquistata solo nel 1999 e nel 2000 la Cestistica centrò la salvezza nei playout. L'anno successivo non iniziò nel migliore dei modi e soltanto verso la metà del campionato arrivò la continuità nelle vittorie, tanto che la formazione disputò la finale per la promozione in B1 perdendo. Da qui in poi, la squadra pugliese rimase stabilmente in B2 fino al 2008, stagione in cui, pur perdendo la finale contro la Fortitudo Agrigento, venne ripescata nel campionato di B1 ed arriva immediatamente alla serie A2 dopo una sola stagione, ripescata al posto di Vigevano.
Tuttavia l'avvio di stagione è difficoltoso per la compagine giallonera: vengono sostituiti l'allenatore e diversi elementi dell'organico, americani compresi. La prima vittoria stagionale arriva solamente nell'anno solare 2011, alla tredicesima giornata. Successivamente la squadra riesce a raggiungere il penultimo posto in classifica, ma nel finale di campionato una striscia di otto sconfitte consecutive condanna matematicamente la squadra all'ultimo posto e alla conseguente retrocessione in serie B.
Nell'estate del 2011 dopo la retrocessione, la Cestistica ha grossi problemi economici, tanto da rischiare il fallimento societario, con la possibilità di cedere il titolo a Reggio Calabria. Tuttavia, tale rischio viene scongiurato all'ultimo momento grazie all'aiuto del Comune di San Severo e di un gruppo di imprenditori locali, la Cestistica si iscrive al campionato. Dopo qualche stagione nella terza serie ottiene nuovamente la promozione in Serie A2 nel 2019.
Le partite casalinghe vengono disputate nel palazzetto Falcone e Borsellino (2.200 posti).

Cestistica San Severo is basketball team of the city of San Severo, in the province of Foggia.
The founding of the team, then called G.S. Cannelonga Mobili took place in 1966. The name remained so until 23 July 1970, after various participations in the minor championships and the conquest of the series D. Only then the name changed to Cestistica San Severo. Subsequently, in 1974, the team was promoted to Serie C but failed to avoid immediate relegation. However, the following year, thanks mainly to the contribution of guys from the youth team and the young talent Walter Magnifico, the Sanseverese team managed to regain the C series, this time maintained thanks to additional reinforcements in the roster.
After winning promotion to Serie B and a championship in 1978, the year in which Cestistica played the poule A2 for promotion in the second national series, the team had a significant collapse, mainly due to the departure of Magnifico, bought by Fortitudo Bologna (then called Mercury).
In 1980 the Apulian team relegated to Serie C, a series that remained until a parenthesis in 1983, when it was promoted back to Serie B but immediately relegated at the end of the season. There followed unexciting years in which the company returned to play also in the series D.
Promotion to Serie B was regained only in 1999 and in 2000 Cestistica hit the playouts. The following year did not start in the best way and only towards the middle of the championship came the continuity in victories, so much so that the formation played the final for the promotion to B1 losing. From then on, the Apulian team remained stable in B2 until 2008, season in which, despite losing the final against Fortitudo Agrigento, was fished in the championship of B1 and immediately reaches the series A2 after a single season, fished instead of Vigevano.
However, the start of the season was difficult for the black and yellow team: the coach and several members of the staff, including the Americans, were replaced. The first win of the season came only in the calendar year 2011, the thirteenth day. Subsequently the team managed to reach the penultimate place in the standings, but in the final of the championship a streak of eight consecutive defeats mathematically condemns the team to the last place and the consequent relegation in Serie B.
In the summer of 2011 after the relegation, the Cestistica has big economic problems, so much to risk the corporate failure, with the possibility to surrender the title to Reggio Calabria. However, this risk is avoided at the last moment thanks to the help of the Municipality of San Severo and a group of local entrepreneurs, the Cestistica signs up for the championship. After a few seasons in the third series the club again gets promotion to Serie A2 in 2019.
Home matches are played in the Falcone and Borsellino arena (2.200 seats).
