I Glasgow Rocks, squadra della famosa città scozzese, gareggiano nella British Basketball League, il livello più alto del basket britannico.
Il club è stato formato nel 1998 come Edinburgh Rocks, è stato ribattezzato Scottish Rocks nel 2002 e Glasgow Rocks nel 2009.
Fondata come Edinburgh Rocks nel 1998 da un consorzio di uomini d'affari, la squadra ha debuttato alla Meadowbank Arena sotto la guida dell'allenatore americano Jim Brandon anche se non furono la prima squadra scozzese a competere nella BBL: i Glasgow Rangers fecero apparizioni di successo ma di breve durata nella massima serie alla fine degli anni '80.
La franchigia è stata ammessa direttamente nella massima serie per riempire lo spazio apertosi in seguito alla fusione di Crystal Palace e London Towers. La squadra terminò la sua prima stagione al nono posto nella lega a tredici squadre con un record di 12–24.
Durante la seconda stagione del club, i Rocks andarono in bancarotta prima di essere acquistati da uno dei suoi attuali dirigenti. I problemi fuori dal campo non incisero sulle prestazioni della squadra in campionato e i Rocks migliorarono la loro stagione inaugurale con un record di 19–17, finendo terzi nella Northern Conference e qualificandosi per i playoff della postseason, arrivando fino alle semifinali, dove furono sconfitti dai Manchester Giants.
Nel 2002, attratti dall'apertura della nuovissima Braehead Arena di Glasgow da 4.000 posti , i Rocks sono stati sradicati dalla loro vecchia sede di Meadowbank a Edimburgo e si sono trasferiti settanta chilometri a ovest nella città più grande della Scozia, e sono stati rinominati Scottish Rocks .
La prima stagione a Glasgow ha fornito alla franchigia un accordo di sponsorizzazione con Mitsubishi e la sua stagione di maggior successo fino ad oggi, poiché l'allenatore Wall ha portato i Rocks al loro primo trofeo in assoluto, il BBL Play-off Championship.
Durante l'estate 2008 la franchigia ha anche annunciato un nuovo accordo a lungo termine con il Glasgow City Council. Come parte dell'accordo, gli Scottish Rocks sarebbero stati ribattezzati Glasgow Rocks dall'inizio della stagione successiva, in cui la squadra raggiunse la finale dei playoff perdendo però contro gli Everton Tigers.
I Rocks si sono trasferiti nella loro nuova casa presso la National Indoor Sports Arena, conosciuta come Emirates Arena per motivi di sponsorizzazione, nell'ottobre 2012. La partita di apertura nell'arena è stata un derby contro i Newcastle Eagles davanti a un pubblico record di 5.500 persone.
Negli ultimi anni la squadra ha raggiunto molte volte la finale di BBL Cup senza però mai riuscire a vincere.
I rivali tradizionali dei Rocks sono i Newcastle Eagles.
Gli Scottish Rockettes sono il corpo di ballo ufficiale dei Glasgow Rocks che però si esibisce anche nelle finali della competizione BBL e nelle partite casalinghe del Glasgow Rugby.

Glasgow Rocks, a team from the famous Scottish city, compete in the British Basketball League, the highest level of British basketball.
The club was formed in 1998 as Edinburgh Rocks, was renamed Scottish Rocks in 2002 and Glasgow Rocks in 2009.
Founded as Edinburgh Rocks in 1998 by a consortium of businessmen, the team debuted at the Meadowbank Arena under the leadership of American coach Jim Brandon although they were not the first Scottish team to compete in the BBL: The Glasgow Rangers made successful but short-lived appearances in the top flight in the late 1980s.
The franchise was admitted directly into the series to fill the space opened following the merger of Crystal Palace and London Towers. The team finished their first season in ninth place in the thirteen-team league with a 12-24 record.
During the club’s second season, the Rocks went bankrupt before being purchased by one of its current executives. The Rocks improved their inaugural season with a 19-17 record, finishing third in the Northern Conference and qualifying for the postseason playoffs, reaching the semi-finals, where they were defeated by the Manchester Giants.
In 2002, attracted by the opening of the brand new 4.000-seat Braehead Arena in Glasgow, the Rocks were uprooted from their old Meadowbank headquarters in Edinburgh and moved 70 kilometres west to the largest city in Scotland, and were renamed Scottish Rocks.
The first season in Glasgow provided the franchise with a sponsorship deal with Mitsubishi and its most successful season to date, as coach Wall brought the Rocks to their first ever trophy, the BBL Play-off Championship.
During the summer of 2008, the franchise also announced a new long-term deal with Glasgow City Council. As part of the deal, the Scottish Rocks would be renamed the Glasgow Rocks from the start of the following season, in which the team reached the playoff final but lost to the Everton Tigers.
The Rocks moved into their new home at the National Indoor Sports Arena, known as the Emirates Arena for sponsorship reasons, in October 2012. The opening match in the arena was a derby against the Newcastle Eagles in front of a record crowd of 5.500.
In recent years the team has reached many times the final of BBL Cup without ever being able to win.
The Rocks' traditional rivals are the Newcastle Eagles.
The Scottish Rockettes are the official corps de ballet of the Glasgow Rocks, which also performs in the finals of the BBL competition and in the home matches of Glasgow Rugby.
