Il Košarkaški Klub Partizan venne fondato il 4 ottobre 1945 come sezione sportiva della Jugoslovenska narodna armija. Solamente nel 1953 tutte le varie sezioni sportive facenti parte dell'esercito jugoslavo diedero vita alla società polisportiva Sportsko Drustvo Partizan.
Nonostante annoverasse tra le sue fila fortissimi giocatori fin dai primi anni di vita, riuscì a vincere il primo campionato nazionale solamente nella stagione 1975-1976, cui fecero seguito negli anni successivi trionfi in Coppa Korac e ancora nel campionato jugoslavo.
Ci fu qualche anno di appannamento, causa il fisiologico ricambio generazionale, poi con l’arrivo di nuova linfa (Djordevic, Danilovic, Paspalj, Nakic e Divac) ripartì l’incredibile serie di vittorie nazionali e continentali culminate con la vittoria in Coppa dei Campioni nel 1992 con una squadra senza giocatori stranieri, un’età media di poco più di 21 anni ed un giovane Zeljko Obradovic in panchina.
Continuando a sfornare giovani talenti e guidata da nuovi allenatori la squadra rimase per anni ai vertici dei campionati nazionali e delle competizioni europee, arricchendo copiosamente la propria bacheca di trofei.
A partire dalla stagione 2021-2022 un Obradovic con più anni e vittorie in Europa tornerà alla guida di una squadra che si preannuncia ancora molto competitiva e desiderosa di continuare la tradizione vincente del club. Nella Stark Arena (24.000 posti) tornerà a risuonare l’urlo dei "Grobari" ovvero "I becchini", accesa tifoseria del Partizan, protagonista di scontri violenti con gli acerrimi rivali della Stella Rossa, rivalità acuita anche dalle differenze politiche, rivalità nota come Derby Eterno.

Kosarkaski Klub Partizan was founded on 4th October 1945 as sport section of Jugoslovenska narodna armija. It was just in 1953 that all the different sport sections of Jugoslavian Army gave birth to the Sportsko Drustvo sport club.
Great players played in this team since the very first years of its life but despite this the first title in the National Championship only came in the season 1975-76. After this one further victories in Korac Cup and in the Jugoslavian Championship arrived.
After some foggy years, dued to the generational turnover, a new lymph (Djordevic, Danilovic, Paspalj, Nakic and Divac) let a new incredible period of wins start, both in the home championship and abroad: the peak was reached with the 1992 Euroleague: the team was built without players coming from abroad, with an average age of 21 years and with a young coach at his first experiences, Zelijko Obradovic.
New young talents kept on rising inside the group and new coaches came sitting on the black and white bench, but the team remained for many years at the top positions of National Championship and European Competitions, bringing new cups into Partizan showcase.
Starting up 2021-22 season an older Obradovic, with many European wins will be leading the team which seems to be very competitive and anxious to bring on the winning tradition of this club.
Inside the Stark Arena (24.000 places) the “Grobari” (literally Undertakers), the hottest Partizan supporters, will be screaming and singing; always strongly fighting with their hardest rivals of Crvena zvezda, also divided by political ideologies, they have created, during the years the so-called “Eternal Derby”.
