Il Basketball Club Neptūnas (in lituano: Krepšinio klubas Neptūnas), comunemente noto come Neptūnas o Neptūnas Klaipėda , ha sede a Klaipeda, città portuale affacciata sul mar Baltico. Il club partecipa alla Lithuanian Basketball League e, a livello internazionale, alla Champions League.
È stata fondata nel 1962 con il nome BC Maistas e nel 1964 il nome di BC Maistas è stato cambiato in BC Neptūnas (con riferimento al mitologico dio del mare).
Nel 1966 Neptūnas vinse il campionato dell'amicizia di Žalgiris e l'anno successivo con lo stesso roster arrivò secondo.
Il club è uno degli otto che crearono nel 1993 la Lithuanian Basketball Association.
Durante la prima stagione della LKL (1993/94) il Neptūnas è arrivato ultimo, ottenendo solo quattro vittorie su trentasei partite, Nella stagione successiva i risultati sono migliorati leggermente, soprattutto grazie all’abilità di un giovane ventunenne, Eurelijus Zukauskas, che divenne presto la stella della squadra.
Nella stagione LKL 1995/96, la squadra arriva finalmente ai playoff ma viene immediatamente eliminata dallo Zalgiris Kaunas.
Anche al termine della stagione successiva vengono raggiunti i playoff, ancora però uscendo subito. Zukauskas lascia la squadra e si trasferisce allo Zalgiris, dove arriverà a vincere l’Eurolega.
La stagione successiva è difficoltosa ma un nuovo talento sta crescendo tra le file della squadra: si tratta del diciottenne Arvydas Macijauskas.
La stagione 1998/99 segna il debutto del Neptūnas sul palcoscenico continentale nella FIBA Korac Cup.
Dopo la stagione 1999/2000 il Neptūnas è diventato un partecipante costante ai playoff della LKL, senza mai però essere in grado di superare la barriera dei quarti di finale se non nella stagione 2006/07, quando è arrivato alla semifinale, eliminato però dal Lietuvos Rytas.
Il 2012 è un anno memorabile per il Neptūnas che viene invitato a partecipare alla VTB League, nonostante avesse ottenuto solo il sesto posto nella LKL la stagione precedente.
La stagione 2013/14 non è stata meno memorabile per il club, che raggiunge la finale del campionato nazionale contro lo Zalgiris Kaunas, venendo però sconfitto per 4-2. Purtroppo in VTB League ed in Eurocup la stagione non riserva assolutamente le stesse soddisfazioni.
Il secondo posto in campionato garantisce alla squadra la partecipazione all’Eurolega per la stagione successiva; il debutto avviene il 15 ottobre 2014 contro il Laboral Kutxa con una sconfitta per 88-69.
La settimana successiva, però, arriva la prima vittoria del club in EuroLeague, in casa, contro il KK Crvena Zvezda con il punteggio di 83–81 dopo i tempi supplementari.
La squadra viene eliminata alla fine della stagione regolare della competizione e trasferita in Eurocup, ma anche lì non arrivano i risultati sperati.
La stagione 2015/16 si conclude con un’altra sconfitta nella finale playoff contro la corazzata Zalgiris.
Le partite casalinghe vengono disputate alla Svyturio Arena che può contenere 6.000 spettatori.

Basketball Club Neptunas (Lithuanian: Krepšinio klubas Neptunas), commonly known as Neptunas or Neptunas Klaipėda, is based in Klaipeda, a port city overlooking the Baltic Sea. The club participates in the Lithuanian Basketball League and, internationally, the Champions League.
It was founded in 1962 under the name BC Maistas and in 1964 the name of BC Maistas was changed to BC Neptunas (with reference to the mythological god of the sea).
In 1966, Neptunas won the Žalgiris Friendship Championship, and the following year with the same roster it finished second.
The club is one of eight clubs that created the Lithuanian Basketball Association in 1993.
During the first season of the LKL (1993/94) Neptunas finished last, achieving only four wins out of thirty-six games, In the following season the results improved slightly, especially thanks to the skill of a young 21-year-old, Eurelijus Zukauskas, who soon became the star of the team.
In the 1995/96 LKL season, the team finally reached the playoffs, but was immediately eliminated by Zalgiris Kaunas.
Also at the end of the following season it reached the playoffs, but still going out immediately. Zukauskas left the team and moved to Zalgiris, where he won the Euroleague.
The following season is difficult but a new talent is growing in the ranks of the team: it is the eighteen-year-old Arvydas Macijauskas.
The 1998/99 season marked Neptunas' debut on the continental stage in the FIBA Korac Cup.
After the 1999/2000 season, Neptunas became a constant participant in the LKL playoffs, but was unable to break the quarter-final barrier until the 2006/07 season, when it reached the semi-final, but was eliminated by Lietuvos Rytas.
2012 is a memorable year for Neptunas who is invited to participate in the VTB League, despite having obtained only the sixth place in the LKL previous season.
The 2013/14 season was no less memorable for the club, which reached the national championship final against Zalgiris Kaunas, but was defeated 4-2. Unfortunately in VTB League and Eurocup the season does not reserve absolutely the same satisfactions.
The second place in the league guarantees the team the participation to the Euroleague for the following season; the debut takes place on 15 October 2014 against Laboral Kutxa with a loss of 88-69.
The following week, however, comes the club’s first victory in the Euroleague, at home, against KK Crvena Zvezda with the score of 83-81 after extra time.
The team was eliminated at the end of the regular season of the competition and transferred to Eurocup, but even there the hoped results did not come.
The 2015/16 season ended with another playoff loss to battleship Zalgiris.
Home matches are played at the Svyturio Arena, which can hold 6.000 spectators.
