Pip

One of Pip's various Miis.

Pip was a former Miiverse clone developer and a former editor for Miiverse Clonapedia. He is the creator of Oasis and was a member of the Indigo development team. Along with that, he was a longtime administrator of Closedverse and Ciiverse.

Pip was the creator of several Miiverse clone related videos, including a now private video series titled "Closedverse Portrayed By SpongeBob", which represented users and types of users using scenes from the show SpongeBob Squarepants.

History

2017 Closedverse

Pip joined Closedverse on September 15, 2017. In his early time on the site, he was best known for posting about the character Kanna Kamui from the anime Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. Prior to Pip's arrival, Closedverse co-creator PF2M created the Kanna Kamui Community on Closedverse after watching the anime, but shut it down after he considered that it was "unfair" to other anime. Pip, unaware of the community's deletion, jokingly asked PF2M to make a Kanna Kamui Community, though PF2M refused, explaining the history of the community. This caused Pip to go to the Anything Goes Community and proclaim that that he would spam images of Kanna until the community was reopened. After posting images for about an hour, Pip was banned by Squibby, one of the few moderators of Closedverse at the time. Afterwards, Pip messaged Closedverse creator Arian to apologize. Shortly after, PF2M reopened the Kanna Kamui Community, which would be seen as a symbol of Pip's actions to bring the community back, as well as his connecting him with the character of Kanna Kamui for quite some time.

Due to the aforementioned Kanna Kamui spam and the rather simplistic drawings he would create, Pip would be fairly well known among the Closedverse community. At one point, he had the most comments out of all Closedverse users. When Closedverse was expanding administration roles, several users (including Pip himself) suggested that Pip should be part of the administration team. He was eventually promoted to an administrator, which contributed to his popularity among the Closedverse userbase. He would be the designer for the icon and banner of Closedverse's Christmas Community.

In late 2017, the user Charlotte would become an administrator. Charlotte was generally unpopular among the Closedverse userbase for deleting posts and occasionally banning users simply because they were unfunny. As an administrator, Pip feuded with Charlotte and ordered her to stop deleting posts. However, Charlotte would not comply with Pip's request, and as a result, Pip purged all of Charlotte's posts. This decision was positively received by a majority of the userbase, though some would argue that he was overdoing his power. Despite this, Pip tried to personally settle things with Charlotte, and the feud between the two would fade.

On December 19, 2017, Pip would create Pipcord, a Discord server that he ran, which would remain active for much of 2018. The server was inactive for years, but was finally deleted on September 14, 2021.

Early 2018

During early 2018, Pip would continue to be demoted and repromoted, becoming a joke among the users on when he would have his roles changed. In fact, right before Closedverse had shut down, Pip had counted the amount of times his roles and permissions were changed in the audit log, which ended up totaling to around 150 edits. Pip's feud with Eric would also continue, as Eric would eventually demote and ban him for a day, after an argument between the two.

In mid April of 2018, Pip's Discord server, known as "Pipcord", was partially deleted, as one of the administrators, yoshi boy, made several other users admin, resulting in parts of the server getting deleted. This was later resolved. Pip would also announced that he was learning programming in order to make a Miiverse clone known as Oasis (initially known as Oasisverse), which was meant to be a "Closedverse getaway", since he believed that Closedverse's administration caused problems with the site. PF2M assisted Pip with setting up the site.

Oasis and Staffcord

On May 18, 2020, Arian gave the link to an early, private version of Oasis to a user known as Morel, who began to post this link on the Anything Goes Community, oblivious to the fact that the clone was still private. This incident worsened Pip and Morel's existing resentment towards each other. Because the link to the site got leaked, PF2M and Pip were forced to release Oasis early. Oasis had a different staff compared to Closedverse in order to have less problems with administration than Closedverse. At the time of its release, Oasis did not see much activity compared to Closedverse, but the activity was still significant. Pip would host a Nintendo-themed art contest on Oasis in June of 2018.

Following PF2M inheriting the title of "owner" on Closedverse in early May after Arian reportedly stepped down, a Discord server comprised mostly of Closedverse staff known as "Staffcord" became a prominent force on the site. The group significantly altered the site's administration, promoting and demoting different users while managing some users' moderating power. Pip was against this rise to power and control over the site's administration, despite being an administrator himself prior to and during this time period. In July of 2018, Pip made an agreement with the Staffcord that they would reopen the Kanna Kamui Community (which was closed down months earlier for a general Anime Community) if a post he made gained 75 yeahs, which he was able to reach.

Indigo

In June of 2018, Pip jokingly asked Ben and SRGNation to make a clone with them, and they agreed, to his surprise. They came up with an idea for "Multiverse", a "crossover" between Oasis, Pearl, and Ciiverse, the clones that Pip, Ben, and SRGNation made respectively. After conflict involving Charlotte making fun of the site, Pip convinced the other two developers to stay, and development on the site would continue for about a month. The clone's name would be changed to Indigo, which would merge with another clone known as Nova, which was developed by Arian, PF2M, Seth, and Jod. PF2M shut down Oasis in order focus on funding Indigo, though Pip promised that this was only a temporary shutdown.

When Indigo was released, PF2M was the initial owner of it, though he would eventually leave the community, effectively giving ownership of the site to Pip. Because Pip was the new owner of Indigo, he decided to give ownership of Oasis to another user, who was able to fund the reopening of Oasis. During the span of Indigo's history, many members of the Indigo Team would begin to quit. Pip would be one of the few remaining members of the developer team, along with Triangles and Gnarly.

Pip had eventually given Tutikaz a position on staff after numerous users had pressured him to do so. Fearing being doxxed, Pip did not demote Tutikaz, despite blatant abuse of his moderator perms.

Oasis Post-Indigo

Even though he stepped down as the owner of Oasis, Pip would still be active on it after its activity spiked due to Indigo's shutdown.

A group of Oasis users known as the Reg Gang used old posts Pip made about Kanna Kamui to make the claim that he was a lolicon. These users would make jokes about how Pip had an interest towards the character's feet, based on an early Closedverse post he made.

After Clones

Pip has two Twitter accounts, being @Pikacraft64 and @scumfuckpip, the latter being his main one.

On August 30, 2019, Pip made a post on Reddit on the Closedverse subreddit titled, "“What happened to Clones??!?”" where he claimed that the sites were all down and would not be returning, and that the "clone era is over."

Oasis Rewritten

On April 1, 2020, Pip "brought back" Oasis as an April Fools joke, titled "Oasis Rewritten". Only Pip could post on the site's sole community, though anyone could comment on his posts. His first post on Oasis Rewritten received over 600 comments. Pip stated that whoever made the best comment on the site would choose what to host on it for a day. After the site was suspended, Pip declared the user Jokko as the winner. He would later use the domain for the site, because-the-inter.net, for his personal website.

On April 24, 2020, Pip was added to the editor team on Miiverse Clonapedia.

wakemeupinside.cf

Pip was an owner of Miiverse clone developer SMF9's Closedverse rehost wakemeupinside.cf. Pip never took this position seriously, as SMF9 had begged him for weeks to help him set up a Miiverse Clone. On June 18, Pip created a form that allowed users who answered it to obtain a special badge on the rehost which allowed them to post on the "Cools Community", though otherwise they had no administrative power.

On June 27, the users Konameme and Cookie began raiding the site and deleted SMF9's account. A few minutes after the raid, the site went down.

In a blog post from June 28, one of the owners of the site, Luna, stated that the clone was "attacked" by Pip, even though Pip was not involved in the raid of the night before. SMF9, believing that Pip was involved in the raid, banned him. It is worth noting that, for a period, SMF9 thought Pip and Konameme were the same person.

Uiiverse Shutdown

On June 26, 2020, Uiiverse co-founder Mintphin announced that Pip, along with SRGNation, would be the new owners of Uiiverse. Following the announcement on July 13 that Uiiverse was shutting down, Pip moved the database from uiiverse.xyz to uiiverse.ga. He announced that this would be a 2 week "Goodbye Session" for Uiiverse, claiming that he wanted Uiiverse to have "a chance for the final goodbyes that Closedverse, Indigo, and Oasis never had." The site was intended to shut down on July 24, 2020 at 4:00 PM PST. However, Pip turned his PC off during the scheduled shutdown time, leading him to shut it down a day later, on July 25. On the shutdown message, he claimed that he wanted the "messy memories" to rest.

New Pipcord

Icon for Pipcord: Definitive Edition from September 14, 2020 to October 3, 2020, being a parody of Kanye West's 8th studio album, "The Life of Pablo".

On September 7, 2020, Pip archived the Pipcord server, and created a new Pipcord, titled "Pipcord: Definitive Edition". He stated that the old Pipcord carried "too much history of my time on Miiverse Clones to be appealable to new members."

Pip would also start making more Miiverse clone related videos in September, including "Staffcord: A Brief History" a now deleted video documenting the Staffcord group that controlled Closedverse in May of 2018, and "Who WAS the most well known Miiverse Clone User?", another now deleted video attempting to answer the question in the title using a now deleted form created prior to the video.

On January 27, 2021, Pip released a bot on a server known as PipBot (PipBot#1793). PipBot uses multiple phrases as commands. For example, typing "ping" will cause the bot to mention the poster and respond with ", pong!"

Election Oasis

On November 2, 2020, Pip announced on Twitter that he would be revealing something later that night. He would later announce "Election Oasis", a version of Oasis that would last for only a day. The clone featured a General Discussion Community, along with communities made to show support for each of the running presidential candidates at the time.

At 6:09 PM PST, the domain of Election Oasis was suspended. Pip stated that he had plans to bring Election Oasis back up in the morning of Election Day, though the database would likely be reset. The site was brought back up at around 12:15 PM PST.

The Clone Files

Pip would continue to create videos talking about more niche aspects of Miiverse clones, such as the development history of Indigo, and the entire series was put in a now unlisted playlist. The series would retroactively be called "The Clone Files", and Pip subtly confirmed that a video talking about the earliest clones would be the final video made in this series, due to a desire to make videos on other topics, as he only wanted these videos to be seen by his subscribers. Notably, the final video, "Clones before Closedverse", received over 60 dislikes, many appearing to come from Banama Club users, along with Adrian. Most of these dislikes would be purged for spam, bringing the video down to about 20 dislikes.

Leaving the Internet

On July 11, 2021, Pip announced that he would be leaving the internet on September 15, 2021, exactly 4 years after he first joined Closedverse.  On a now deleted Twitlonger statement, he stated that he wanted to have a "fresh new start" and put his focus on college, but he would still be around for the final two months to settle "unfinished business". On that day, many users congregated to Pipcord to say goodbye to Pip. Several voice chats were held that day, and the server was soon filled with spam before eventually being deleted. Pip would delete all but two of his YouTube channel's videos and rename his account to "THIS PROJECT IS RETIRED" (a reference to the Your Favorite Martian YouTube channel), and his Twitter and Discord were deactivated.
