inklingbot/Sony Cat

inklingbot was a Closedverse bot created in late 2017 by Arian. It was later rebranded as Sony Cat in early 2018. inklingbot and Sony Cat are also two separate bots on Discord.

History

inklingbot was created sometime in late 2017. It was supposedly meant to be used to initiate "optimal comedy" on Closedverse. The bot would comment under any post that had the word "jew" in it, with an automated message saying that the post was unfunny.

Arian also made a Discord bot under the same name (inklingbot#4935). The description for the bot reads, "Just a fun bot that makes some "inside jokes" and a few utils." The bot is currently down. The bot's prefix was "woomy". One of the commands the bot had was an openverse command, which allowed a user to enter text ("woomy openverse [text]") and have the bot display the text as a logo with the Openverse font and icon.

In mid 2018, inklingbot was rebranded as Sony Cat. Its profile picture was an image of Toro Inoue, a cat character created by Sony. Sony Cat would automatically comment on users' posts if they contained the words "sony" and/or "site". If the user's post contained the word "sony", Sony Cat would comment an image of the Sony logo. If the user's post contained the word "site", Sony Cat would comment the image above. If the user had both words on their post, the bot would comment both images. For a brief period, the bot could be used by those with administrative powers by typing the username of an account. The bot would comment a list of accounts that shared the same IP address as the entered one. Later on, if a user posted "doPurge", the bot would delete every post made by the user and comment "[amount of posts] posts purged".

Sony Cat was also available as a Discord bot (sony cat#1059). When sending a private message to the bot, it would respond "hello, can you please go to https://closed.pizza/get_affréteur and give me the contents of that page? thank you". The link mentioned displayed a random string of characters. When this text is copied and pasted on the private message with the Discord bot, the bot would say, "cool, now you can message me to post to the site! :sunglasses:". Afterwards, any comment the user sent on the private message would appear on Closedverse as a post on the Anything Goes Community made by them. This only applies to text and not images. The bot was active on two separate days: once on March 14, 2018, and again on July 6, 2018. The bot is currently inactive.

On June 2, 2020, a bot known as "inklingbot2" (inklingbot2#8781) messaged Jokko, the creator of Miiverse Clonapedia, on Discord with an encrypted message. After Jokko replied "What", inklingbot2 sent a message to him (shown above) and went offline. Jokko proceeded to share a screenshot of the message on Twitter. The way the message was written hints that it was likely Arian who sent it under the bot.
