History

Not much is known about Gnarly's relations with other users on Miiverse, though he supposedly once called PF2M a script kiddie based on a screenshot posted on a Miiverse clone. He was also a user on Le Miiverse Resource, and was friends with Hatty.

Joining Closedverse

Gnarly joined Closedverse under the nickname "meme" in late 2017, around the same time as a user known as dedotatedwam, who was revealed to be Tutikaz. Gnarly and Tutikaz eventually became friends.

Shortly after joining, he made posts insulting the user Jorge, who was a well-known user at the time. Most of the userbase showed a disliking towards Gnarly and viewed him as a troll. Eventually, Jorge made art of Gnarly's Mii stating that he harasses people, which Gnarly used as his profile picture for a while. Gnarly also made posts and artwork mocking the Closedverse userbase, such as a post mocking Closedverse artists for their "cutesy" artstyle while he is able to draw in the style of the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure manga. Additionally, he posted MEGA links to video games that he uploaded from various torrent-trackers, which garnered some controversy due to most users' concern about piracy.

A few days after he joined, news broke out that Gnarly doxxed Jorge, though the evidence was limited to a Discord screenshot of him posting an IP address. Due to this news, Gnarly's account was deleted from Closedverse.

Sometime in early 2018, Gnarly created a wikia known as "Closedverse Dramatica", intended to be a parody of Encyclopedia Dramatica but for Closedverse. One of the articles on the wiki was about Closedverse creator Arian, which claimed that Arian held 17 gigabytes of child porn, which he got from the dark web. This wiki was reported, likely by Arian, and got deleted. Gnarly, with the help of Tutikaz, created a similar web page which had more incriminating information about Arian, as well as another Closedverse admin, Charlotte. Charlotte was targeted for allegedly sending a picture of her penis to another user, and was made fun of for a diaper roleplay she did on Google+. At the time, most of the Closedverse userbase was either skeptical or in disbelief of the information, and many thought Gnarly was trying to slander the two for drama. Gnarly's unpopular stances on Closedverse and well-known users caused most of the userbase view him as a sort of boogeyman, though this also gave him a niche following.

Using Cedar

Gnarly grew contempt at Closedverse and its userbase, as well as the apparent idolatry of Arian on the site. This caused him to join a well-known Miiverse clone, Cedar. He praised Cedar for having a better administration and userbase compared to Closedverse. Gnarly also created two communities for his cracked games and software. He usually posted on Cedar to discuss drama involving him on Closedverse, as his accounts on the latter were frequently banned or deleted by Arian or Charlotte.

Gnarly was a candidate in the March 2018 Cedar elections, which let users vote for users on a poll. Several months later, he became an administrator for the site.

Closedverse and the Dramatica

Gnarly created a new Closedverse account on January 29, 2018. On February 9, 2018 at around 2:20 AM, he posted an image of what appeared to be semen (which in reality was hand soap) on an iPad with a picture of another user's Mii, in an attempt to "cuck" Jorge. This post got deleted.

In late February of 2018, Gnarly created Closedverse Dramatica Reborn, a new version of Closedverse Dramatica. This version was hosted on PF2M's website and set up on MediaWiki in order to prevent the site from getting reported. While Gnarly was the main editor of the site, he enlisted the help of a few other users to edit, those being Tutikaz, Ben, and Beforkers. In addition to Closedverse Dramatica, Gnarly also published the seven page "Gnarly Bible" on March 6. The creation of Closedverse Dramatica was controversial among the Closedverse userbase, as some users believed that the articles were made for harassment.

When his second Closedverse account got deleted, Gnarly made multiple attempts at getting on Closedverse, though his accounts were swiftly deleted. One attempt he made at getting on Closedverse was disguising himself as a new female user who was curious and asked questions about the site and the userbase. According to a comment on Cedar, he spent "like 2 hours" studying the behavior of the userbase, such as their speech patterns and sense of humor. Gnarly's plan was to get close with the userbase and eventually build a fake relationship with Arian so that he could become a moderator. However, on March 4, 2018, Arian found out and revealed that the "new user" was in fact Gnarly.

In mid March, Gnarly announced the development of Gnarlyverse, a Miiverse clone he was creating. However, he scrapped the idea for a 4chan-like website known as Gnarly-Chan, which he released on March 24.

In early April, there was talk of a "treaty" between Closedverse and Cedar, though Gnarly confirmed that it was unofficial. He also claimed that the Closedverse userbase "still [continued] to spam hatred of people like me and some of my friends".

Gnarly had beef with several individual Closedverse users. One of these users was Stoney, who made multiple posts on Closedverse criticizing Gnarly and the Cedar userbase. In early April, Gnarly had no hard feelings towards Stoney but didn't "know why [Stoney] had a huge hate boner" for him. On April 10, Gnarly found out that Stoney's Facebook page was linked to his iFunny account. The page contained numerous information including a picture of his face. The next day, Stoney accused Gnarly of being a doxxer, though Gnarly argued that the information was never private due to the fact that Stoney's Facebook was linked on his iFunny account. Gnarly eventually published a Closedverse Dramatica article on Stoney on May 25, 2018.

Another one of these users was SoulySoul. Gnarly criticized Soul for making posts about how she wanted him and Tutikaz to die, and yeahing posts with similar messages. He claimed that Soul was a hypocrite for making these types of posts while simultaneously having a "wholesome" image, and stated that she would leave or tell the mods to ban Gnarly on every Discord server they were both on. The Closedverse Dramatica article on Soul (one of the first articles made on the "Reborn" iteration) claimed that she was transgender, and used an image of her to make comparisons to male anatomy. However, Soul denied this claim. Gnarly received criticism from the Closedverse userbase, likely due to during that it was rare for a Closedverse artist with a large following like Soul to receive criticism or hate.

Despite this conflict, a user known as RedWolfDRI made a post stating that Gnarly claimed to like Soul on a Discord server, though he deleted this comment. It is unknown whether this was true or not, but Gnarly did yeah some of Soul's art on Cedar, and Soul also followed Gnarly on the site. However, conflict between the two continued on in 2019 and 2020. For instance, Gnarly uploaded the Epic Sauce Fortnite Death Punch song "Soulful (Soul Rant)" on February 5, 2019, while Soul claimed in a Tweet that they made Gnarly "cry a paragraph and 'made him want to quit his band'" after they called Gnarly "edgy" and his art of Soul "shit".

When Arian stepped down from Closedverse after more evidence against him circulated, Gnarly started to gain a small following among the userbase. However, the new staff led by PF2M decided to ban Gnarly. Most of the userbase spoke out against this, including part of the old staff, though most of these users were banned as well.

Oasis and Tomodachi Life

Gnarly was one of the first users to join Oasis, and eventually became an administrator. Like on Cedar, Gnarly usually posted on Oasis due to his accounts being frequently deleted on Closedverse. He would also mock various users, usually those who went against him on Closedverse.

In July of 2018, Gnarly created Closedverse Dramatica Revived, the final version of Closedverse Dramatica that hosted most of Reborn's articles. Gnarly and the editing team were able to create over 30 articles in Closedverse Dramatica's lifespan.

During July, Gnarly pirated the Nintendo 3DS game Tomodachi Life, and would post various screenshots and gifs of his Mii and other users' Miis that he added. These posts were a major contribution to Gnarly's increased following among the Miiverse clone userbase. Two years later on the same month, the Twitter account Out of Context Everything (@OutOfContextEv2) tweeted out several edits of Gnarly's Tomodachi Life videos, and in a Discord screenshot, someone claimed that a Spanish Instagram meme page also posted these videos and dubbed Gnarly's Mii "Gnarsonrisas".

Start of ESFDP

On August 22, 2018, Gnarly published "Coner Sucks At Life And Fortnite", the first song in his newly established metal band known as Epic Sauce Fortnite Death Punch (ESFDP). Dick Dale became a member of the band and was the lead singer, while Gnarly usually played the guitar and/or drums. Gnarly would frequently advertise the band's songs on Oasis. One of ESFDP's songs, "Fuck All Furries", was made using Tomodachi Life.

During 2018, most of Epic Sauce Fortnite Death Punch's songs were related to Miiverse clones and Miiverse clone drama. For example, "I Want Staff (Give It To Me Now)" is about Gnarly's desire to be an administrator on Closedverse. Songs such as the aforementioned "Coner Sucks At Life And Fortnite" and "Virgin in Disguise" were made to mock Coner, due to the former making questionable posts and allegedly stealing credit for Unmemed, a "TV series" that Coner uploaded videos of on his YouTube channel. In actuality, Gnarly created a short Garry's Mod clip and claimed that it was Unmemed, even though Coner was the one to make the Unmemed series prior to the clip. It is likely that Gnarly made the claim that Unmemed was his idea first in order to anger Coner.

Gnarly would continue to mock Charlotte in multiple Epic Sauce Fortnite Death Punch songs. One song in particular, "Eric Will Never Be A Girl" was released in the period when Charlotte transitioned and went by the name "Mochi".

Indigo Team

In late August of 2018, Gnarly created more accounts on Closedverse, which would continue to get deleted by Arian and Mochi. On August 30, Gnarly claimed that Mochi was deleting more users that were friends with him, including Dick Dale, Tutikaz, Ben, and Beforkers. On September 3, he claimed that he had the S+ badge for a brief moment, though Arian eventually "hard deleted" all of his accounts.

Gnarly was invited to the Indigo development team in June of 2018, and helped to pitch ideas for the site. He also contributed to the Indigo trailer that was released on July 17, 2018.

When Indigo was released in October of 2018, Gnarly was one of the admins, and soon gained a significant following. He was one of the few members of the Indigo Team to stay on the team for the entirety of the site's lifespan. In early 2019, he would join Tutikaz's group, JSN.

Oasis Post-Indigo

Like most other users, Gnarly posted on Oasis when Indigo was shut down. He showed support for the Reg Gang, though it is unknown if he was a member himself. He also mocked other "gangs" that were made at the time, such as the Epic Gang, Hug Gang, and Posadas Gang.

After Clones

Gnarly continued to work on Epic Sauce Fortnite Death Punch after the shutdown of Oasis. In early 2019, he was able to pick up a publisher for the band, NoodlesNetwork. NoodlesNetwork was responsible for publishing the band's first album, Epic Fortnite Tales, on music platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music in January of 2019. Gnarly collaborated with Dick Dale and Eugene (also known as PattyMac) for the second album, The Second Coming, which was released on April 20, 2019.

After the release of The Second Coming, Eugene left the band and Gnarly eventually stopped calling Dick Dale to do vocals. Currently, Epic Sauce Fortnite Death Punch is a solo band, with Gnarly doing both the vocals and the instruments.

Following the end of the Miiverse clone era, Gnarly began making accounts on Twitter, though he grew resentful of the site's userbase, evident by his ESFDP song "Twitter Sucks".

Aside from working on songs for his band, Gnarly was not very active on social media for the rest of 2019. In December of 2019, he published a video of his pirated software website GnarlyStash under a channel with the same name. The site was under the link gnarlystash.opx.pl, but has since been taken down. GnarlyStash also has a blog on gnarlystash.blogspot.com.

Early 2020

In January of 2020, Gnarly created a Twitter account with the handle @dagnarles. Currently, this account is inactive (as it may have been restricted), and he is using another account with the handle @V2Gnarly, which he created in April of 2020.

Gnarly would begin work on the third Epic Sauce Fortnite Death Punch album, Vol III: Third Times a Charm, in March of 2020. He would advertise this The album would be renamed to Modern Day Twitter Shitfest in June of 2020.

On March 16, Gnarly was added to the editor team of Miiverse Clonapedia, though according to posts made on the Hamsta Discord server, he only applied as a joke, but stayed because he was "stuck with it".

Gnarly and his alts would get banned from the Hamsta Discord server. Gnarly attempted to reach out to Beholder about the issue, though the latter refused to answer.

Weeg Drama

On April 1, 2020, Gnarly published the ESFDP song "I’d Rather Inject Cyanide Into My Penis Than Look At Weegs Art" to mock the art of the former clone user Weeg. Around the same time, an anonymous group published a web page that also mocked Weeg's art. Eventually, Weeg accused Gnarly and three other users of making the site, and asked his followers to "get them." Gnarly replied to another tweet by Weeg stating that he had no involvement with the web page, though Weeg was suspicious that the site was released around the same time as the ESFDP song. Gnarly made the claim that he wasn't the only person that could dislike his art. After a back-and-forth conversation between the two, Weeg decided to call off the thread. Gnarly dubbed this drama the "Weeg Drama Arc".

Post-Clone Dramatica

Crowfail.png, the image which was displayed on the main page of Post-Clone Dramatica.

Around April of 2020, Gnarly announced that he would be making a "spiritual successor" to Closedverse Dramatica known as Post-Clone Dramatica. He published the website indigorevived.eu5.org, which contains an image that leads to a trailer for Post-Clone Dramatica when clicked.

Gnarly initially published Post-Clone Dramatica on May 9, 2020, though he took the site down a day later to find a faster domain. He also enlisted Tutikaz as an editor.

Prior to Post-Clone Dramatica's second release, Gnarly and several other users posted screenshots to accuse Soul (then known as Yagi, under the handle @StrawberryYagis) of saying racial slurs on their old DeviantArt account. Soul denied doing so and claimed that the screenshots were fake. Gnarly also posted a screenshot of a tweet from Soul where they claimed that they were not able to shower due to depression.

Post-Clone Dramatica was released again on May 22, 2020. The article on Soul is currently the largest and most prominent article on the site, which uses multiple screenshots of Soul's tweets as reference.

The Soul article on Post-Clone Dramatca led to some controversy. Some of Soul's followers, including Crowplastic (formerly known as DB or PRISM on clones) criticized Gnarly for harassment and being "obsessed" with Miiverse clone users. During this time period, some users spammed replies on one of Gnarly's tweets, and a few users attempted to report him. Gnarly dubbed this controversy as the "Spergathon Arc".

Post-Clone Dramatica was last updated on May 30, 2020, and it is unknown what Gnarly's future plans are with it.

Drama with Fred

Gnarly's beef with the Twitter user Fred (@SubwayCaveman on Twitter and fredflintstone.jpg on Instagram, who was notable for his "We Like Fortnite" video) started in mid-2019, as evidenced by the ESFDP song "Alberto Cuesta Is Racist". The accusations of Fred being racist by Gnarly and numerous other people led to Fred's infamous live stream where he shouted out that he was not racist.

Around late May of 2020, Gnarly tweeted a video with the audio from the livestream. He created a site known as fredisasheepfucker.eu5.org (which has since been suspended) which showed multiple Discord screenshots of Fred reacting to NSFW anthropomorphic sheep art. Gnarly replied to Fred's tweets with the link to this website. This may have been one of the contributors to Fred leaving Twitter in June.

The Lesbian Trio

Screenshot from the thread where Gnarly made the reply.

On June 9, 2020, Gnarly replied to a Tweet made by former clone user Tachanka. This caused Tachanka to claim that Gnarly was mad because he "never fucked one of the 3 lesbians [he] were rejected by". In response, Gnarly replied, "3 lesbians? make that 0 bud. you're literally believing a twitter lie. did you finally get out of that minimalistic banama-humor shell?"

Following the reply, the account TheLesbianTrio (@TrioLesbian) was created, and began replying to most of Gnarly's tweets and replies with "3 lesbians? make that 0 bud." Gnarly mentioned the account several times, one instance being where he tweeted the account to "get help" and posted a Discord screenshot of presumably the owner of the account talking to the user ECorp. Gnarly blocked the account on July 4.

The statement Gnarly made eventually became an inside joke within the Miiverse clone community, with users such as Pip and Toast referencing it in July of 2020.

On August 11, 2020, Gnarly changed his Twitter handle, which caused his original handle to be taken by someone known as CaffeinatedFox. Gnarly had to change his Twitter handle to @V2Gnarly_based and later @gnarly_v2.
