Clone-chans

Clone-chans is a term used to describe the anthropomorphic representations of various Miiverse clones, almost always female, by various artists. The Japanese suffix "-chan" is often used to indicate these characters, though the official terminology for humanized versions of non-human subjects is "gijinka" (Japanese for "humanization") or "moe anthropomorphism". This article will go over the known art pieces of these Clone-chans.

It should be noted that Miiverse itself was represented in humanized form by its users on various occasions. Two examples include a DeviantArt post by ChibiMaDemonPet depicting "Miiverse-chan", and the animation "Miiverse - The Ending Has Come" by Aviles, which depicts a humanized version of Miiverse watching on a computer as Miiverse shuts down, before crying and disappearing at the end of the video. Known depictions of "Miiverse-chan" are uncommon, however, likely because the logo for Miiverse depicts a green humanoid figure with a smile, which was typically used when humanizing Miiverse.

Closedverse-chan

Closedverse was the most popular clone for users to draw humanized versions of. These humanizations were typically dubbed "Closedverse-chan", though "Closed-chan" and "Closedverse-tan" were also common.  These drawings were usually posted on Closedverse itself, though they would also be posted on the Closedverse Discord server. The earliest art of Closedverse-chan can be traced to December of 2017. Closedverse-chan was typically drawn as a woman with blue hair and clothing, with the Closedverse logo being put somewhere on her hair.

Arguably the most popular variant of Closedverse-chan was one drawn by the user Scoolaples in mid 2018, which allowed her to gain notoriety among the Closedverse userbase at that time. She would also make a humanized version of Cedar known as Cedar-chan. Scoolaples would draw multiple NSFW art pieces of Closedverse-chan, including depicting her nude, performing sexual actions with Cedar-chan, and performing sexual actions with several Miiverse clone users (based on users' request). These drawings would be posted on the Rule 34 website on April 3, 2018.

A humanized version of Closedverse was drawn for the banner of the Closedverse Anime Community (Community Number: 138), though the artist is unknown.

Cedar-chan

Because Cedar was known as a "rival" to Closedverse in late 2017, drawings of Cedar-chan were also common. Most of the surviving images of Cedar-chan come from the Closedverse Discord server. The "use Cedar" phrase was sometimes incorporated into the drawings. Cedar-chan was usually drawn with green hair and Cedar's logo on her hair.

Gnarly-Chan, the 4chan clone made by Gnarly, had a mascot with a blue shirt, pants, and hair. It appeared to take inspiration from the character Yotsuba from the manga series Yotsuba&!, who became the unofficial mascot of 4chan.
