rverse is a currently defunct Miiverse clone created by ninjafox, with development having been led by Oman Computar. It was previously known by different names such as Miiverse Rewritten, foxverse, Priiverse, and Reverse. It was first published on January 17, 2018. It was an application that can be installed on a hacked 3DS or Wii U, and currently has no web browser version. As of 2024, it was one of, if not the longest lasting Miiverse clone that was still available. As of September of 2024, rverse is only available as a read-only archive.
A list of current and former contributers to the site include: Sono, Paul_GameDev, T3CHNOLOG1C, Larsenv, PokeAcer, NightYoshi370, Oman Computar, superwhiskers, SuperMarioDaBom, RedDucks, atom, Loki, Slade, Trace, and Terminal.
The current iteration of rverse is known as rv2. The original iteration of rverse, rv1, was an unchanged clone of Miiverse, with rv2 expanding upon rv1 and improving upon Miiverse's features. A new iteration of rverse, rv3, is currently in development.

rverse started out as a project known as "Miiverse Rewritten" on October 25, 2017, to serve as a replacement to Miiverse. The website was renamed to foxverse, and had a domain known as foxverse.cf.
On November 25, 2017, ninjafox asked Arian, the creator of Closedverse, to run Closedverse on foxverse's server. Arian agreed, and ninjafox announced that foxverse would be replaced with Closedverse running on the same server. However, this decision was scrapped, and foxverse continued development.
Sometime in late 2017, a verified GitHub organization was made to publish open source frameworks, among other things.
Around early December of 2017, ninjafox announced that foxverse would run on HTTP instead of HTTPS, and that the site would use a pin system instead of passwords. This decision was criticized for potentially causing major security issues. Because of this, on December 23, ninjafox decided to restart development of foxverse until the site could use HTTPS.
foxverse was released as an open beta on January 11, 2018, and the site was released for public use six days later.
On March 13, 2018, ninjafox announced that she would be stepping down as the lead developer, with Oman Computar taking her place. Shortly after, foxverse became operated by the Pretendo Network, and was renamed to Priiverse. It was later renamed again to Reverse.

On April 24, 2018, Oman Computar announced that Reverse would split from Pretendo, but stated that the service would remain unaffected.
On November 28, 2018, the service was renamed to rverse (its current name) due to domain provider issues.

On May 24, 2023, Term, a development administrator for rverse, announced the DrawMii Art Collab on the rverse Discord server. On a special community known as the DrawMii Community, users would post requests to have their Mii drawn, preferably with a theme. Other users would reply with a drawing of the request. The official instructions, written by Term, were as follows:
1 ) Write about yourself; who you are, what you’ve done, your favorite game, etc
2 ) At the end of your post, write a #DrawMii request, with a theme.
3 ) Post a screenshot of a game either relating to the #DrawMii theme, or from a game that features Miis. (If rverse won't let you post a screenshot, send Rickster#5856 in DMs a Luma Screenshot instead.)
4 ) [OPTIONAL] Record your art timelapses with Snickerstream or a a 3DS capture board and send the recording to Rickster#5856.
The community opened on May 26, 2023. Users would reply to drawing requests with art made using rverse's drawing tool. The event lasted until June 10, 2023.

On June 18, 2023, Oman Computar made a thank you post for all the artists that participated in the event. A 26-minute video compilation was posted by the Game & Greet Twitter page.
On June 22, 2023, rverse underwent maintenance. The maintenance was initially scheduled to end on June 24, 2023, but Oman Computar had to extend the maintenance twice due to the large amount of images on rverse's server combined with Cloudinary only being able to download 1000 images at a time. He also had to take time to understand his old code so he could fix it. rverse's maintenance ended on July 3, 2023, with Miis now updating automatically.
On July 9, 2023, at 10:58 AM PST, rverse underwent maintenance. Unlike the previous month's maintenance, this one only took about an hour, and rverse was back up by 11:53 AM PST.
On September 1, 2023, rverse event organizer RickE posted an announcement on the rverse Discord server of an art collab to commemorate Charles Martinet's retirement from his roles voicing various Mario characters. Valid submissions must include a drawing of Charles Martinet (digital or hand-drawn) and an audio recording of a two-sentence message giving tribute to him. A video showcase was planned to be made after enough submissions are posted, and was to be sent to Charles Martinet's Twitter page on his birthday, September 17.
Oman Computar's post on the rverse Discord server following rverse's shutdown.
On April 8, 2024, the day of Nintendo Network's shutdown, rverse shut down as well, due to the authentication server it uses no longer giving tokens for users to access it. There were plans to allow users to sign up with their Pretendo Network accounts. Oman Computar announced on the rverse Discord server that development of rverse would be paused. The developer Slade made a post about the shutdown the following day, stating that all the information on rverse, such as posts and Yeahs, remain in the servers while rverse is offline.
On May 8, 2024, one month after the shutdown, Oman Computar made a post stating that rverse would return once Pretendo Network allows rverse to use its account servers to properly authenticate users.
On July 10, 2024, Oman Computar announced that a read-only archive of rverse went up that could be accessed with a Pretendo account after downloading rverse from Universal-Updater on a modded 3DS. However, 10 minutes later he stated that he had to take it down, likely to assess issues. The archive officially went live on September 9, 2024, with several bugs like account profiles not working. In the post announcing the archive, Oman Computar claims that this "marks the end of rverse as we know it".
On September 27, 2024 at 1:48 PM PST, the rverse Discord server became read-only. The Patreon and Ko-Fi pages for rverse were also disabled.

In November of 2022, an official Fediverse instance for rverse was released in response to the changes to Twitter after business magnate Elon Musk's acquisition of it. An invitation code was needed to sign up. The instance has since shut down.
rv3 was a new version of rverse that was in development. Development for rv3 began in March of 2023. On March 27, 2023, rverse developer Atom made a blog post about the beginning of rv3 development. In the blog post, Atom discusses development goals for rv3, which are related to fixing problems of the current version of rverse, rv2. Goals for rv3's development included improved APIs and "state-of-the-art authentication". Its current status is unknown, but it is likely that the project has been scrapped since the current version of rverse shut down.
