Route Description:

Start in Clarence Drive in Pringle Bay. Follow the clear path up the valley. At a junction, take the right hand path up to the Summit.

Enjoy the views 33 km to the west across False Bay to Cape Point , 61 km to Table Mountain, 36 km to the East to Hermanus and 52 km to Gansbaai. And below your feet is the Hangklip lighthouse.

Fastest and simplest return is back via the same path but there are a number of more interesting alternatives: (see the OSM map)

  • Go down the faint path on the ridge facing False Bay. Take the path off to the right down a busy gully to High Level Road and follow the round around back to Pringle, using the shortcut track over the nek between Hangklip and Pringle Bay Peak.

  • Continue down the ridge to meet the path coming up the valley. Turn left and proceed back to the parking.

  • Or turn right and go down to the path past the Bleskop sandboarding dunes and and return via Brodie Link. Or, if cars are at both ends, cross Silversands Beach to your cars at Baumgartner Place in Betty's Bay.

Note: Seafarm is a private nature reserve with restricted access. Inquire locally or obtain a permit before entering.

Hangklip from High Level road. The path from Pringle runs up behind the ridge visible here.

There is also a rock climbing route up the right hand ridge and an an interesting scramble via the gully in the center of the picture, but this crosses private land so access permission is required.
