Outlook Ridge
Location: On the False bay side of Elsies Peak
Overview: Spectacular, short ridge route following the traditional climbers "down" route
Route Description:
From the end of Mountain Rd above Fish Hoek, go up the eroded path toward the nek on the northern end of Elsies Pk. Before the nek, follow the rough path on a traverse below the main Elsies Peak rockbands.
The first pitch starts at the end of the high overhangs and before going around the corner. Ascend 5m and then traverse 20m left. Ascend up through several rockbands, traversing right at one stage on a narrow ledge.
When it is clear one cannot ascend further look for a narrow ledge to the left that ends in a cave. Go through the cave and ascend another 20m to easier ground, emerging virtually at the mast on top of Elsies.
Descent: Obvious line back along the Elsies Pk ridge towards TM and pick up the path running back down to Mountain Rd, or go on over to Glencairn if you have left cars at both ends.
