Truitjieskraal trail

Location:  Matjiesrivier Nature Reserve, Southern Cederberg 

Overview: 

A short but fascinating hike through fantastic Cederberg rock scenery in the Matjiesrivier reserve. (Permit required which is obtainable from Kromriver Farm or Matjiesrivier office. No charge to Wild Cardholders)

The turnoff to Truitjieskraal from the Matjiesrivier to Kromriver dirt road, is at a Cape Nature sign (see picture) where there is  a chain with a combination lock. You get given the combination with your permit. 

Drive to the first parking area where the trail starts. The second and third parking areas are for quick access to the Bushman paintings. The end of the trail takes you down to the middle parking area, and there is then a short walk back on the road to the car.
