Overview: Short exciting and strangely less frequented scramble on the most southern corner of the Atlantic side.
Route Description:
Approach using the Llandudno Ravine route from Ruyteplaats. The Hout Bay Corner 'C' route starts just after the aid staples.
Follow a bushy path right, skirting a low overhang. Follow the path (steep and loose with a rock step or two) up to the rock face with the black water streaks. Traverse left along the face for about 25 meters past an easy looking break and climb an even easier looking short recess (B+). Ascend diagonally left and around an exposed corner. Climb the long recess on the right (B+/C) and a crack (C) with a wobbly wedged chalkstone. Accend and climb the last noteworhty pitch on the face (B+) or in the earthy corner.
The rest of the ascend is easy scrambling to large rock platform at the top, which is a great tea spot (on windless days).
Descend: Closest descend is Llandudno Ravine. |
