Three prominent peaks in the Marloth Nature Reserve, from left to right: Klipspringerkop (1127m), Middelrivierberg (1405m), Leeurivierberg (1626m). The beautiful fynbos is typical for the South Face of the langeberg.
The Langeberg (Dutch for "Long Mountain") is a mountain range extending for approximately 250 km from Keeromsberg, immediately northeast of the town of Worcester, to its eastern terminus at Cloete's Pass, just north of Mossel Bay.
The range forms the barrier to the arid Karoo to the north and the lush Overberg region to the South. The southern faces of these mountains bear rich fynbos and indigenous forests, while the north faces are usually covered by arid shrubland.
The mountains near to Robertson & Swellendam are popular hiking destinations; including popular destinations such as the Arrangieskop overnight hike and the Marloth Nature Reserve. Montague (Which sits on the Cogmanskloof Pass, along with Ashton) is a premiere location for rock climbing in the Western Cape owing to its rich sandstone formations.
