This interesting 'B' route up the South Face of Postern leading into the Yellowood cracks below the summit, is possible of variation, and who did the first ascent is unknown.
However it seems likely that parts of the upper sections were used by parties doing Travers-Jackson's Postern Buttress D route, wanting to climb to the top rather than walk off on one of the ledges across to the Apostles path. Some parties used the scramble pitches just beyond the Postern tea overhang as a different finish to Wood Buttress, or else to reach the start descend from the top of Postern ravine.
The first record of a route up the South Face appeared in a guidebook by Karen Watkins.
Depending on the exact line followed, some pitches may require roping less experienced scramblers.
