Location: Hottentots-Holland nature reserve just outside of Jonkershoek, between Stellenbosch / Franschoek / Theewaterskloof Dam. Begin from the Jonkershoek Nature reserve gate (Permits R70). OSM Map
Overview: An untechnical hike with outstanding panoramic views of the Cape, a worthy detour from the Jonkershoek Panorama or Swartboskloof trails. The peak at 1591m is the tied with Somerset Sneeukop (Depending on which source exactly they differ by 1m in either direction) for highest point in the greater Hottentots-Holland / Groot Drakenstein range.
Accessed via a well marked path crossing the Dwarsberg Plateau from between Bergriviernek & Kurktrekkersnek on the Panorama path. No matter the combination of routes chosen this makes for a long and strenuous day of hiking.
Route Description: See Panorama Route. The path to the peak deviates from the Panorama route at -34.0054919, 19.0089459 - about half way between Bergriviernek and Kurktrekkersnek just before the sharp bend around the corner to the straight path revealing Dwarsberg Peak, (travelling clockwise) about slide 15.
