Grafton, MA - Sophomore Matt Tornaritis scored twice in the first half and once in the 2nd stanza to lead the Crusaders of Groton Dunstable to a decisive 6-1 win over the Tigers of Tyngsborough. GD got on board in the 8th minute when Paolo Filho sent Tornaritis on a ball who came into the 18 from the left side, beat a defender and finished with his left foot off the far post. Nate Pomeroy made it 2-0 on a Penalty kick after Tornaritis was taken down in the box. Tornaritis made it 3-0 when he attacked the defense, Doug Rosa's overlap run drew the defense to balance and Matt broke in through the defense for the clinical finish. Morgan Manthous addd a 4th goal in the 32nd minute when he stepped into a ball send in from Alex Murphy. The Tigers made it interesting when $14 finished on a direct kick catching Crusader Keeper Connor McGuire on the near post. Nate Pomeroy and Matt Tornaritis both scored on headers from great crosses from Manthous and McGuinness to seal the deal. #5 GD defend their Div 2 Central mass Crown and improve to 16-2-4 overall. #10 Tyngsborough finished their season at 12-8-2. GD will now travel to Westfield State University on Tuesday Nov 13th for a 7pm MIAA State Semi-Finals vs the Western Mass Champion Belchertown (21-0).
