Marlboro, Ma - Jr. Matt Fordham converted on a penalty kick with three minutes remaining to lift the Crusaders of Groton Dunstable to a 1-0 victory over the Panthers of Marlboro. GD had a strong wind behind their back the first 40 minutes, Fordham hit the crossbar on a corner kick in the 23rd minute, Simon Chandler head a ball over his head in the 32nd minute but Marlboro netminder Victor Barros made the save. Zach Elmasri had a ball land on his feet but shot the ball over the net late in the 1st half. Marlboro's Edson Dorian had a chance or two for the Panthers early in the 2nd stanza but Cole Connerty turned him aside. Matt Fordham was tripped in the box with 20 minutes to play but no call. GD continued to control play in ahead wind and with three minutes left Fordham was taken down again in the box and converted from the spot. Marlboro drop to 3-4 in League play and 4-9-2 overall and GD improve to 6-1 in League play and 10-2-2 overall. Crusaders host #6 Bromfield Saturday at 12pm.
