Groton, MA - Crusaders Jeremy Keast, Matt Fordham and Zac ElMasri all scored goals within the last ten minutes of the first half to propel the Crusaders to a 4-1 win and qualification into the Central Mass district tournament. Jeremy Keast opened the scoring from a great switch of field pass by Alex Castellano and tapped it in for the lead. Matt Fordham poked another past Mountaineer Keeper Matt Befford in a scap in front of goal moments later and Zac Elmasri chested another over the goal line less than two minutes later. Wachusett came out strong in the 2nd stanza drawing a goal back just 1:30 into the half when Shane Mullaney took a left footed shot that hit the crossbar and returned back to him and he finished with his head 3-1. Crusaders begin to push back and Sr. Captain Will Zinkann headed a corner kick off the crossbar that went to the far post to the feat of Max Phanord for the tap in, 4-1. GD played out the remaining 25 minutes and punched it's ticket into the MIAA Div 1 Boys Central Mass Soccer District Tournament for the first time in three years(2015). GD received great play from Jeremy Keast, Max Phanord, Derek Caruso and Ian Maguire. Wachusett Regional fall to 14-2-2 overall and will be the #1 seed waiting for the Shrewsbury/South Winner next Monday. GD improve to 7-6-5 overall, draw the #10 Seed and will travel Saturday night to Northborough to take on the #7 Algonquin Tomahawks (8-6-4). Winner get #2 Marlboro on Monday 11/5 at 7pm.
