Groton, MA - So. Matt Krikorian scored two goals in the second stanza to lead the Crusaders to a 3-0 blanking of the Panther of Marlboro. Marlboro had better offensive chances in the first half and lead the play. GD began to get chances early in the second half but could not convert. Then in the 60th minute Krikorian received a great feed from Matt Tornaritis and finished low and far post past panther Keeper Arthur Torres. 10 minutes later Fr. Dean Tornaritis made a great play and feed to Tyler Belanger who found Matt Straw wide open who finished left footed to the high far post 2-0. Then in the 75th minute Krikorian broke in alone from a Dan McGuinness feed and he finished low under a diving Panther Keeper to finish the scoring. GD received great play from Brogan Walsh, Ryan Hardy, Connor McGuire, Anthony Resca. Marlboro fall to 3-3-1 in League play and 7-6-1 overall. GD improve to 5-3 in Midland B league play and 7-5-2 overall. The win secures the Crusaders birth to the Central Mass Div 1 District Tournament in November and a chance as Co-Champions in league play. If Westboro draw or win at Hudson next Tuesday then the Rangers will win the Midland B league crown. GD host Rival Bromfield on Saturday night 7pm. Go Hawks!
