Townsend, Ma - Groton Dunstable Sr Forward Nate Pomeroy scored twice in the first half and add three more in the first 10 minutes of the second stanza to pace the Crusaders to a 9-1 non league win over the Patriots of North Middlesex High School. Pomeroy's goals today allow him to reach the 100 career point mark at 59 goals and 41 assists during his tenure at GD. The Crusaders took the lead on a 30 yard shot from Pomeroy that went threw the hands of Patriot keeper Michael Spagndo. Sophomore sensation Matt Tornaritis picked up a loose ball in the 23rd minute and chipped the ball over the patriot keeper for the 2-0 lead. Sophomore Matt Straw sent Pomeroy in down the right flank and he finished to the far post for a 3-0 halftime lead. In the first ten minutes of the 2nd stanza Pomeroy got great feeds from Sr Captain Doug Rosa and finished three times, once on a header and twice from great through balls. Jr Dan McGuiness added his 4th goal of the season while Doug Rosa and Brogan Walsh also added great finishes to pace the Crusaders to a 9-1 win. GD received great play from Eric Stone, Matt Straw, Ben Lutz and Tim Higgins. The Crusaders improve to 2-2-1 overall and begin Midland B League play on Thursday when they travel to Fitchburg High School for a 3:30pm Kickoff. Nate Pomeroy gets MVP for Today's Win.
