Chelmsford, MA – #4 Regionally Ranked Groton Dunstable Boys Soccer scored 2 goals in each half as they blank the Chelmsford Lions 4-0 in Non League Action today. Sr. Midfielder Alex Merlino opened the scoring in the 3rd minute when he beat Lions keeper Stephen Mcleod to the far post on a great ball across the 18 from Jr. Forward Nate Pomeroy. Jr. Midfielder Doug Rosa made it 2-0 in the 16th minute when he redirected a shot with a great turn on the ball into the opposite far netting after Sr. Ben Chilcoat tapped him the ball in a scramble out front of goal. 11 minutes into the 2nd stanza Nate Pomeroy broke in alone from a Kyle Romich feed and he beat the Lions keeper to the far post for the 3-0 lead. Sr. Midfielder Ben Walsh subbed into the game and within 30 seconds scored his first goal of the season on a great lateral feed from Kyle Romich and the score was 4-0. Jr. Keeper John Nyilis saved a Penalty kick within the last 3 minutes to preserve the shutout. GD received great play from Sr. Defender Peter Ellerkamp and Jr. Defender Eric Stone. Chelmsford drops to 11-2-4 overall and GD improve to 15-1-1 overall and face Innovation Charter School at Home on Tuesday 4pm for Senior day.
