Groton, MA - So. forward Gabe Dingle scored goals in both half's and added an assist as the Crusaders blanked the Patriots of North Middlesex Regional 4-0 in Boys soccer. GD got off the board in the 8th minute when Matt Tornaritis broke in and dished a simple finish to Dingle 1-0. In the 16th minute Jr. Matt Straw finished a rebound off a shot and blasted it home for the 2-0 halftime lead. Then six minutes into the second stanza Tornaritis dribbled passes two players and broke into the box and finished with his left foot low past Patriot keeper Michael Niemi to the far post. Then in the 58th minute Straw sent a perfect cross to Dingle at the six box and he connected with a header low to the near post to complete the scoring. The Patriots Jacob Fitzgerald hit the cross bar for NM in the 63rd minute but it hit the line and came back out. North Middlesex falls to 0-4-1 and will host Algonquin on Tuesday at 5pm. GD improve to 2-1-2 and will host Hopkinton in a non league game in Monday at 4pm.
GD received great play from Tyler Poitras, Dan McGuinness, Chris Buzan, Nick Fordham and Keeper Jamie Bailey.

Groton-MA JV –North Middlesex had no answers for the Crusaders on Saturday as GD dominated play throughout winning by a score of 6-0. Saturday’s game saw a handful of freshman get a chance to compete at the JV level. Mike Ho lended his services during the 1st half and owned the middle of the field before shipping off to the varsity game. Matt Naughton, Nick Resca, Mike Bermingham, Shay McGillvray, Dean Tornoraitus and Chris Lattini joined the squad and all made significant contributions in the victory. Goalkeeping responsibilities were shared between Nick Resca (1st half) and Chris Werner (2nd half). Man of the Match goes to Mitch Wheeler. Mitch was impressive scoring 3 goals and assisting on another.
