GD vs Leominster

It took only 3 minutes and 5 seconds for the 2011 version of the GD Boys Varsity Soccer team to find the net. Jr. forward Nate Pomeroy slipped the ball past the keeper from a great pass from Sr. Chris Mckinney to give the Crusaders at 1-0 lead. Mckinney broke free in the 17rd minute and sent in a lateral ball across the 6 box that Sr. Alex Merlino converted to make it 2-0. Leominister would find the net twice in the final four minutes to draw thing even at the half 2-2 on goals by Jerry Tanfu & Julius Annan. GD would again strike quickly when Sr. Alex Merlino scored his 2nd goal on a great feed from Jr. Mike Keating just 1:05 into the 2nd stanza. 3 minutes later Chris Mckinney finished a header on a corner kick from Sr. Ben Chilcoat and the lead was 4-2. In the 52nd minute Jr Nate Pomeroy finished his 2nd goal on a great feed from Sr. Kyle Romich and the scoring finished 5-2. GD saw 25 different players see action today and they improved their record to 1-0 on the season. GD received great play from Sr Peter Ellerkamp, Jr. Eric Stone, Jr Adam Kmetz and Jr Tim Higgins. GD are back in action on Tuesday 9/13 vs Nashoba Regional in Mid Wach B league Action.
