Foley Stadium- Worcester Ma, Sr. forward Kyle Romich scored goals in both half’s and Jr. midfielder Doug Rosa add a goal as the GD Varsity Boys soccer blanked the Nipmuc Warriors 3-0 to win the 2011 Central Mass Championship. The Crusaders came on the attack early today and Kyle Romich scored 11 minutes into the match on a great through ball from Jr. Forward Nate Pomeroy. GD continued on the attack and in the 21st minute Doug Rosa picked up a loose ball and shot from 30 yards away beating Nipmuc Keeper Andrew Morin over his head and under the crossbar. Two minutes into the 2nd stanza Jr. defender Adam Kmetz sent a ball over the last defender and Kyle Romich hit a one time volley perfectly into the net and the score was 3-0. Nipmuc’s Tim Peterman and Tanor Jobe stayed frustrated most of today’s game based on the great defensive performance of Jr’s Mike Keating and Paolo Filho. GD received great play from Sr. Back Peter Ellerkamp and Eric Stone. GD short passing game and game planning was too much for the 2X defending C-Mass Champs today as the Central Mass Crown returns to Groton Dunstable. GD improve to 18-1-1 overall and will now face Belchertown the Western Mass Champion on Wednesday night at 7:30pm at Lunenburg High School for the State Semi Final and the right to play in the State Championship game next Saturday night at Worcester State College at 7:30pm.
