Groton, Ma - Sr. Matt Krikorian scored two second half goals including one with 3 minutes to play as the Crusaders forged a 2-2 draw with Westford Academy today. Westford broke the deadlock in the 8th minute when Neemar Saberi broke in alone and toe balled it past Crusader Keeper Chris Werner. The Grey Ghosts struck again in the 13th minute when Saberi send Brian Murray in and he slipped it past Werner for the 2-0 lead. Krikorian had a great chance in the 31st minute but shot the ball just over the crossbar. GD began to take control on the game in 2nd stanza and after a timeout Sr Patrick Keating send a long throw into the box to Gabe Dingle who headed it across the 18 box where Krikorian hit a left footed volley blast past WA keeper Alex Wood to make it 2-1. Krikorian got in alone minutes later but failed to convert just missing past the far post. With 10 minute remaining Gabe Dingle got a shot of that beat Wood but hit the post. Then with 3 minutes remaining Sr. Andrew Karasevich won the ball as keeper came out and Krikorian picked up loose ball and dribbled by Wood and slipped it across the goal line to draw even at 2-2. In dying moments Keating sent a long throw into the Box that Dingle headed to back post where So. Drew Stone hit it off the post and game ended. Westford drop to 0-1-1 overall and GD improve to 1-0-1 and host Tyngsboro on Monday at 3:30pm.
