Groton Dunstable Boys Varsity Soccer has five players recognized by the League and Central Mass Coaches Association
Sr. Midfielder – Alex Merlino
Alex had a great Senior season at left midfield for the Crusaders scoring 8 goals and 7 assists for a total of 15 points. Alex’s speed, strength and leadership as a Senior Captain has made him a great candidate to play at the Collegiate level. Alex is a very talented and mature young man and is the model student athlete and is the perfect example of what Coaches look for in a player. Alex was selected to the Midland Wachusett B League All Stars Team and was selected on Sunday by the C- Mass Coaches Association and a Central Mass All Star. He will be representing GD at the Senior Bowl the day after Thanksgiving.
Sr. Midfielder – Chris McKinney
Chris had a great Senior season at right midfield for the Crusaders scoring 7 goals and 8 assists for a total of 15 points. Chris’s speed, strength and leadership as a Senior Captain has made him a great candidate to play at the Collegiate level. Chris’s speed and strength down the right flank created so many scoring chances for us this season. Chris was selected to the Midland Wachusett B League All Stars Team and was selected on Sunday by the C- Mass Coaches Association and a Central Mass All Star. He will be representing GD at the Senior Bowl the day after Thanksgiving.
Sr. Defender – Peter Ellerkamp
Peter had a great Senior season as skipper of the program and controlling the back for us all year. He had 2 assists for a total of 2 points. Peter size and game awareness provided great leadership on the field. He will be a great candidate to play at the Collegiate level. Peter was selected to the Midland Wachusett B League All Stars Team and was selected on Sunday by the C- Mass Coaches Association as a Central Mass All Star. He was also selected to the Div 2 All State team. Peter will be representing GD at the Senior Bowl the day after Thanksgiving.
Sr. Forward – Kyle Romich
Kyle had an amazing Senior season as a forward for the Crusaders. He had 16 Goals and 14 assists for a total of 30 points. Kyle’s ability to be unselfish from his position this year made our team better. His 14 assists lead all players in all of Central Mass this season. Kyle’s size and athletic ability makes his a constant threat and one that keeps coaches up all night figuring out how to slow him down. He will be a great candidate to play at the Collegiate level. Kyle was selected to the Midland Wachusett B League All Stars Team and was selected on Sunday by the C- Mass Coaches Association as a Central Mass All Star. He was also selected to the Div 2 All State team. Kyle will be representing GD at the Senior Bowl the day after Thanksgiving.
Jr. Forward – Nate Pomeroy
Nate had an amazing Junior year as a forward for the Crusaders this season. He had 29 Goals and 9 assists for a total of 38 points. Despite an injury this season where he only played in 13 games he was able to still amount 38 points. Nate now has 49 goals and 36 assists for 85 points in his three year career at GD. His game awareness, speed, physical presence and mental ability to improve as a student of the game makes him the player his is today. Nate was selected to the Midland Wachusett B League All Stars Team and was announced as League “Player of the Year” getting all five first place votes from the other Coaches in our league. He was selected on Sunday by the C- Mass Coaches Association as a Central Mass All Star. He was also selected to the Div 2 All State team for the 2nd year in a row. Nate was the only player in Div 1,2,3 to be selected as an All New England player and will be a candidate of the 2011 All America Team in the weeks ahead.
